Here is a prime example of WHY Erie is the greatest freshwater fishery in the world. I fished the Susquehanna river last night. I caught 20 smallies and 7 walleye. Sounds good huh? No way! The biggest smally was about 13 inches. The biggest eye was 10 inches!. I HAVE caught bigger eyes(8 lber) and smallies(6lbs) in that river. But your AVERAGE smally in Erie is 5 lbs. Your AVERAGE eye in Erie is almost 8 lbs. I won't even go into the Lakers,Steel,etc.. I just thank god I will be retiring in 6 yrs and 2 mos. I will then be up there 6-8 months a year!!!!!!  Outstanding hunting to boot!

not being a fan of  hot weather nor a resident of pa., i can honestly say that at times i am envious of what you guys have up there in the way of natural resources.  presque isle is beautiful as are the tribs when the human population is somewhat absent.  all in all, pa. is a beautiful state.  the only thing you guys are lacking are cleveland pro sports teams.

This is funny becasue the only thing cleveland is lacking is a pro sports team!!!!!

Lived in Erie for 7 years.  Have lived away from Erie for 5 years now.  Have made it back to fish for slime once....don't miss it at all.  Miss friends living up there but nothing more than that.

im origionally from the erie area.i moved about 2 hrs south 8 yrs ago.took a job that yanked me away from my favorite fishing hole.i still make time,a couple times a year,to get back home to fish.this year, due to health reasons,im not going to be able to get to the hole,so i plan on doing some exploring to find a more semi handicapped accesible area.im not crazy about crowds, but i think im gonna change my mindset and join em this year.if it gets too crowded,i'll do what ive done in trips past...reel in and watch.

I'll never live anywhere else. Everything I love to do is right here, steelhead, good trout streams close by, great deer hunting and tons of waterfowl. Cant beat NWPA.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

I enjoy the diversity of Pa in general. We do love our (fishing) time in the NW region and I would be OK living there for a period of time, but if I have to relocate (to any extent) it would probably be to somewhere more temperate. We have been keeping a camp in the Erie area now for a few years and would definitely continue to do so, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings to have a few years that didn't involve a snow shovel or the words 'lake effect'!

And Amen to that.

For me it just seems that this is where I am supposed to be. I have come back three times, after the Navy, and after my last two pastorates.
