Musky Management Meeting Oct. 2

I didn't see this posted anywhere on the board so thought I would share it.  I'm interested to hear where they are trying to go with this.  We have been helping stock muskies on the yough river for several years now and I know the commission has produced some nice fingerling last year and supposed to be good this year as well.  Three Rivers Muskie Inc has helped in supplying money for bait at the hatchery which has been big.  I wonder if another size limit increase will be coming like they did in 2006 when it went from 30" to 40".   They also removed the Mon river from the stocking schedule in 2006.  This will be a good oppurtunity for any of us who hit the Mon for muskie to show up and show support for southwest Pa... maybe they'll start throwing some stockings to the Mon again.

There were several of us who attended the meeting to represent Southwest Pa musky waters.  The commission mentioned that they have used public comment  in the past to shape size limits and waters approved for musky stocking.

It was mentioned by southwest pa manager Rick Lorson that he does order fish for the Mon and Ohio rivers but does not receive them anymore.

A few things you may want to ask for...
    1. Return the Monongahela River to the musky stocking program
    2. Restock Dunkard Creek to make up for fish lost in massive kill
    3. Continue stocking any waters in southwest pa that you enjoy fishing for musky... Somerset Lake, Loyalhanna Lake, Youghiogheny River, Allegheny River etc

I don't normally target them but this year has been a nice year for my girlfriend and myself for toothy critters and I sure would love to have more chances to catch them so I'll gladly draft a comment to send to the PFBC.

Thought I would bring this up again since it's the last week for comment on the musky plan.  Anyone who would like to see the Mon river have musky stocking again please ask for it in the comment form.  Thanks
