Friday 14th

Mid river as usual and again had whole stretch to ourselves. Didnt get there till 1030 saw a total of about 50 fish in 3 hours all hoes today. Landed 2 really fresh fish lost 3 others, tomorrow back up at 530 have a feeling the area might be a bit busier considering the out of state plates saw on the way back. Buddy said he fished salmon acres and went 0 for 7 on kings, still kinda wondering where these 20,000 fish are at.

Had plenty of time to get  up- even in these levels and even though they spread as they run. Betcha all the holes in the woods are packed up. Been watchin the Needle on the Cam and frankly there hasnt been squat for pressure there. Thats usually my barometer for fish running up. Dont fish it just lurk.

They are moving more in the morning and evening. After the first 3 hrs in the morning they were bunching up in front of me and no matter if I hooked a fish or not they stayed there till the shadows started back on the water. Had a friend there today that fished low but not in the DSR and he said the water around him was black with them, he compared it to Beaverdam Brook in October. Cooler nights/days coming and I believe more chances of rain, I think its raining there now. Good luck this weekend crew, may have to walk a bit to avoid the horde.

Thanks again 3 for another good upper river report..
I can tell you something you already know I'm sure..
All those fish are trapped down river, on stringers or floating in the estuary out to the lake..
Good luck on your quest for Salmon

I have been there for many moons and My eyes are wide open..
I don't blame the fishers at all on this and not pointing fingers..
Sorry folks I can't turn the other cheek to something that means so much to me..

Unfortunately after reading the State report I fear that even a real gully washer up on Tug Hill will NOT produce higher flows from the already water depressed Reservoir region.
The only hope we seem to have of increased flows in the near future will apparently  be from SR local area heavy rains producing local runoff. When feeders start feeding heavily it helps along with normal runoff.
The next week or so has rain but does not indicate any long term heavy rain.         Couple of hours of cloudburst ( as commonly happens up there ) is NOT gonna cure the problem. Hopefully it will at least cool the water temps while providing some very minimal increases if  at all.
Fortunately in even 185 with cooler temps 02 may increase somewhat and fish will tend to move more readily . Especially in the darker cloudy weather and at night.
Even though it may be a bit disappointing in gross rain volume this may well be an important upcoming several days.

I just checked the 2a boat launch and theyre barreling through right now. Ferociously... water temp feels like its already dropped to maybe 64ish... they are getting up bro. Just got a good soaking. And yet again i checked the port and it still had fish. Cohoes steelies and browns are showing up. I hit dsr for an hour before the rain. It was not the numbers of the previous days, but it was still quite impressive.

3fan, thanks for the reports man. I think you might be surprised with a decent increase of fish in the upper river tomorrow.
