greenlick

My buddy was talking to a PFC officer to-day after the officer completed a check on the outflow valve. The officer told him that the valve was stuck open & that the stem was rusted & broken off at the valve & couldn't be shut off at present, but that he notified Fayette County as it is thier lake.  sam

heard from a local bait shop that due to the low and stagnent level of the feeder creek they must keep the water level of the lake lower than the inflow. however, if the feeder creek rises back to normal and the water is flowing they will let the lake re fill. just what i heard, not sure if its true though.

It is up a bit after the brief rain last week. Been doing well there this year though with a jig and paca craw trailer. Pulled out a 22 in 6 lb LM just the other day. Averaging about 3 to 4 bass an hour.

There is an article in to-days Trib. about the prob. at Greenlick. Patty Miller from the Jacob Creek waterway assoc. contacted me today after talking with the Park offficals & she said that she was told that the park cleaned the outflow & closed of of the two valves as much as possible & that they have to let some water out of the other one by law. They claim that now if we get some rain up that way it will fill up,but that it should not get much lower than it is now. I fished there Mon. even. & it didn't look like it went lower. Seems to be about 10' lower than normal. It is a good time to walk around & get a lay of the shore.   sam

i swung by the lick lastnighht. lots of fish jumpin and chasing minnows. i had a few decent hits, but only managed to hook a green sunfish. it was a monster. it had to have been at least 5". maybe even 5.25". i wasn't sure i'd be able to land it on my own.

Hope you had a net. Those greenies really are some aggressive sob's though aren't they. They'll hit anything they can get their mouth around, and some stuff they can't.

so let me get this right, because the feeder creek to the lake is low they have to let water out of the lake?  Just curious but I'm not sure how that makes sense or what it accomplishes.  Also I had always heard that Greenlick is only any good from a boat so I never spent any time there.  Is it worth a trip to fish from shore sometime in the future???  Thanks

Seems a little nuts to be letting more water out than whats coming in????? But that's just me. I have only ever fished it from a boat. It's tough sometime getting a boat in when it's normal pool. Sometimes the bank areas are pretty full so they must be catching something, but I ddon't know what.

Just went passed. Greenlick Run is roaring, but that's a 100 acre lake down 10 ft. It's going to take a lot of water, there's hope.

From the pics is saw on FB. Greenlick is well beyond full. Oh well, I guess the days of being able to freely cast without boaters cutting my line are once again over. I guess it's back to using back leads all the time. :(

I doubt that overcrowding will be a prob. for at least the next 6 months. Who kmows what it will be like after that? I wonder what Bridgeport dam looks like? May have to take a ride over. I am sure that it saved Scottdale a lot of probs.  sam

I saw Whites bridge was underwater the other day. I'm sure Bridgeport is at least over the boat launch. There's a lot in Acme dam to drain down that way still.
