Motion Sickness for kiddos???
I am spending Labor Day weekend at my camp and decided to take my neices on one of the perch boats. One of them is 8 & the other 11. Do they make a pill or something for kids to prevent motion sickness? I hate to have them get sick out there. Thanks ahead of time guys!

I second this. Alternately, Dramamine. Check in any pharmacy. Have them eat light and easy to digest food before the trip. Plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

Motioneaze , its not a pill , its an ointment , liquid you rub on just behind your ears. I have not used it but was told by a reliable source that it works. He keeps it on his boat just in case a greenhorn boards his vessel and doesnt do well.

I get severe motion sicknesspretty easily on boats (oddly, amusement park rides never really got to me), and while Dramamine had a noticeable effect, it really only delayed, and slightly reduced the intensity of what eventually became a miserable bout of motion sickness anyway. I've heard of the ointment as well, but never tried it. In my experience though, abstinence is the only 100% effective form of prevention.

bingo. One of the nasty things about seasickness is, once you get it, you're done. The nice thing about M.E. is it works even after the sickness sets in. I just had two seasick individuals on board (two different trips), one adult and one child and this stuff reversed the sickness for both of them. I ordered it after a glowing review on the EPSFA member board. I was skeptical, but I've found it lives up to the hype. It's not cheap at nearly $20 vial (about 40 applications) with shipping, but motion sickness pills are expensive too and this doesn't make you sleepy, and IMO work better than the pills. It's made from natural oils, and like Deetz said, you just rub it in at the soft spot behind each earlobe, and repeat as necessary. http://motioneaze.com/

Never heard of this stuff. Sounds like it's worth checking into. Thanks. Like you guys said, once you get sick, dramamine is of no help. If this stuff actually fixes you once you are sick, then it is worth every penny.

One thing I'll say about sea sickness is... IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT IT, IT WILL HAPPEN.... I have a rule, no talking about sea sickness before or during a trip. I'm a firm believer that it is at least 90% mental. See Colds post above, he already knows in his mind that he'll be seasick. Most of us that have fished the lake for a while have been queasy at one time or another but you can't dwell on it. Keep the kids above deck and out of the cuddy too, that'll get you quick on rougher days. And I can tell you from my saltwater days that dramamine really tastes bad on the return trip... I'm gonna pick up some of that motion eze to keep on board, chummers make others uncomfortable.

I'm with Bdog, I think a lot of it is mental. IMO, no scientific reason why the wrist bands should work. I think the majority of people do get the "funny feeling" when you are on amusement rides, in a plane or on a rough lake but I think a big part of it is how you mentally perceive it. Granted, there are people out there who have inner ear problems (like my wife) and no matter what, they are gonna get car sick, seasick, etc. Rule on our boat was, take care of the motion sickness before we leave port (take your meds the day before and the day of) but if that don't work, you are gonna have to suck it up because we aren't coming back in after pounding out 8 to 10 miles in 2-4's or 3-5's unless it gets worse and the boat is in danger. Personally, I love the rough stuff and the walleyes always seemed to bite better with a real nice chop on the lake to boot! The guy I used to offshore fish with in Texas got seasick almost every time out but that never stopped him. He used the prescription patches and they gave him dry mouth bad. He would drink 2 gallons of water through the day. Usually, it would take 5 footers to get him chucking but that still didn't stop him from operating the boat or reeling in snapper, he just had to take a puke break on occasion. My wife uses meclazine pills for her motion sickness issues. Dramamine causes drowziness so don't take too much of it. I'll have to get her some of the ointment to see if that works better.

Try and feed them some stewed tomatos and saltine crackers.

Ginger pills buy at any store much safer and work better than other meds also no side effects. They proved it on "Myth Busters" even ginger cookies help!

I used to keep ginger snaps in the cuddy for my son Gavin (aka snakeboy ), for when he'd sleep in there or play video games and get himself all cross-eyed...definately helped.
