The moment of truth. Where all other things unconsciously melt away from our minds the instant a fish takes our fly. We stand there on the water with wide eyes, caught in a battle stance with an idea of confidence and hope

Nice fish dude. Are these Ohio or Mon? Are you seeing a lot of shad this year? I stopped at Buckeye Lake near Columbus a few days ago. I couldn' believe the amount of shad at the surface. Was pretty fun watching them get picked off every so often. It didn't look like anything like those wipers chasing them though.

Weallwegot, the hybrids came from the ohio river. Fishinguy, the largemouth was caught at canonsburg dam CU@theriver, that's a board member lol, his name is Kreamy on here. I called him a gill effer when I took the pic. Pork, those are ohio river fish, haven't seen large numbers of mature shad but the fish aren't actively busting them yet. The temps are still up to high, the bite has been slow. Mr. crappie, thats a popper I tie. It's just a marker colored foam head, any stiff material as a base to prevent wrapping and give it some body, palmered saddle hackle behind the head then 4 to 6 feathers tied in for the body. I throw a stinger hook on the longer bodied poppers. I will get some pics up.

I have a few that are 7 or 8 inches with a longer stinger hook buy I couldn't find any of them. I have caught 4 or 5 carp on them this summer. The location I was fishing was just below a dam and the fish run the wall of the dam. Just about any species in there will grab something trying to get away from that wall in a hurry.
