First trip of the year

Loaded the wifes new truck up with 3 of my buddies and took a quick spin up to the slammin river friday morning. First spot was ellis cove lot, hate the new stairs that go down to the river but the snaggers will love them in low water,  high water and you wont be able to access the river so in my opinion a total waste of money, anyways walked all the way to the trestle no signs of fishs, one smallie out of muskrat on a black leach pattern.  Loaded up and went to trestle walked down to root hole and checked from the bottom of it all the way to the bend no fishs. Down to pineville bridge and a quick look around and out of there, quick stop at fat nancys to restock my hotshot collection and down to the ballpark no fishs. Ran over to high bridge and glassed from up top for ten minutes loaded up and headed home no fishs. On a good note have got to spen alot of time this year out on oneida lake chaseing walleyes and have had a banner season, days with up to 48 fish boated were very common and even managed to get the wife and kid out a few times with the kids biggest being 19 inchs and the wife finally learning how to set the hook. Well fall is a coming and soon the fish will be here only hope they  have some water to swim up in. Tightlines ya'all.

Fan, great to hear from ya man. And kudoson on the day trip with the fam...
I hit dsr on opening day in the evening. No signs of anything but it was awesome to be out and see how much the spots have changed with the water down. There are large fish just off the mouth as of a few days ago and they are getting dark and the males are snouting up with kypes.... it will be sooner than later at this point ;) water is definitely an issue. The hatchery has quite a few steelhead and browns...large ones... some of the spring holes are holding some atlantics as well... this week is low 50's at night and 70's during the day...

Did you get any smallies out of the root??? I slammed em in there all summer long ;)

    Tight lines boys

Hey Dime, I didnt fish the root, took one guy with me and showed him some lies down below. Large tree in the river just below the island shoud make a nice new hold for this season. I have heard of a pod in the esturary thought I was gonna pull the big boat up for some lake action this fall but gonna wait and have the shifter cable replaced,  it has hung up a few times as of late and wouldnt want anything to go wrong out on the big lake, oneida I can just fire the kicker up and get in on that. Hope to get in a float with ya this fall.

I dont care if the fishins Carpy -comin up anyhow later this week. If there is a fish- OK if not -OK. Sides -the lawn needs cuttin.
I like flippin flies into deep dark spots wether there are fish in them or not- the fishes are very questionable for a bit - those down low reports seem to say not  anything happening yet or even no reports at all- lol.
Slllllooooowwwww goin in the river right now = But wait - whats that=just outside the mouth= looks like the future . A good one at that from all the outside reports.

HEY-- sombodys talkin bout hooking up a couple and landing one in the Town Pool yesterday or the day before  !!!!!
Just keeps gettin better and better- ya cant make this stuff up-- now they claim the fish was a lake caught plant by a Downtown  Poolside tackle shop owner LLLLLOL
