Bobber With A Brain
Anyone here ever use it? I've got one myself but I've only used it once or twice. If you've never heard of it google it or look it up on youtube.

I got 2 of these several years ago (7-8) at the outdoor show in Monroeville. I used them with my neighbor at Donegal lake with a wind and caught limit in no time. I have used several other times with newbies and always caught fish. Wally world use to sell them don*t know if they still do as I haven*t got anything but floats with weights on there that I use in Yough from Walmart. I did the set up with 2 hooks about a foot apart. BTY nice catfish!!

I've seen tons of bobbers with more brains than the guys watching them.

Did you catch that Cat in the Yough River?? I caught alot of cats in the Allegheny River years ago when my brother-in-laws step father had a place on 10 mile island by Harmerville. The coal mine was open then and the tug boats would churn the back channel good and hot dogs would get you many fish everyday. But nothing over 15lbs.

Actually, I've caught many bass on the flying lure back in the day, as well as the banjo minnow. That Helicopter Lure or whatever it was that I believe Roland Martin came out with years ago was nothing but a moneygetter though.

You should give it a try before you classify it as junk. If you fish from a causeway, this setup is great. When i shore fish deeper water, i dont hesitate to pull mine out and fish it. If the fish are holding close to bottom, a good ways out from shore, these things will get your bait out there and keep it there. Your weight sits on the bottom so you dont drift back in to the shallow water. Once you learn to read your BWB, you'll have fun.

I caught a ton of Crappie on the smaller sized flying lures. The helicopter lure worked well for bass in flooded timber. Havent' caught anything with the Banjo minnow yet. A couple buddies at work ususally get in on buying a kit and splitting it up among us to try.

I field-tested this bobber a couple of years ago & found that it does what it is advertised to do. The basic difference from other bobbers is that this one fishes from the bottom up instead of from the top down. The BWAB is good when you are fishing in water that is over 10' deep & you know that the fish are holding on the bottom or slightly above(2-3')& there are few snags around.I find that in shallower water it is at a disadvantage because most fish will swim up for a bait & I feel that you have more of an advantage with a standard adjustable float that you can drift over cover such as brush piles etc. Also since this operates like a slip bobber, if you rig up so that the hooks are more than 2or 3 feet above the sinker it becomes very awkward to cast,I have to lob it instead. You are advised to use a longer rod with heavier line than I normaly use in case of snagging & losing the whole rig. I will not use it with my light crappie rods for fear of breaking them.when I use them in new water I check the bottom first with my Smart-Cast depth finder. When I decide to use one I usualy carry a separate rod rigged with it.I tried it while perch fishing on the Victory this year but I didn;t realise how much current there was in the lake & keep drifting in front of others. sam
