I would agree that you can never satisfy everyone and there have always been and there always will be those who will complain regardless of the size of the deer herd.
The difference here is the increased number of avid hunters who actually spend more than a couple days a year in the woods who are complaining including the 80,000 or so each year who used to be successful on bucks but no longer are.
Most of the areas that had too many deer in 2000 still have too many because of lack of access for the hunters.
Most areas with access have been overhunted
The PGC is counting on being able to hold out long enough for those who know what good hunting is  to either die off or quit so they can BS the next generation into believing they are seeing good hunting. Judging by the drop out rate they are having some success although the junior drop out rate would suggest the juniors aren't as dumb as some in the PGC would think and the juniors do know how to count.

I have another way HR is working. All the deer, on the adjoining lands to the areas I hunt ,are run onto our properties. I guess I am affected by HR. I was wrong....WF

docto i do remember those days as you said it was harder to get a doe tag back then. and you used to see a herd of deer at a  time sorry 3 is not a herd its a family. i have gotten 2 surveys from PGC i filled both of them out and in several spots were they asked the stupid questions I scratched out and wrote my own politically insensitive answers. they are trying to use a game management program that may work on a ranch were the controls are tighter and the genetics are managed. people are killing more doe now days to get the buck doe ratio up, were do the new bucks come from ? I am not going to stand on a soap box and say I dont shoot doe but i havent in the past 3 years its just not worth it. if you look at the doe tag allocations you can see all around higher population areas larger number of tags available. i remember the campfire bull shoot, see anything ? YA 40 fing doe, now not so much

now day it seems most schools get the first day of buck off when i was a kid mine didnt. they claim they wanted to get the age of the bucks up to 3 1/2 years now you have older mature buck and yearling does i really am not interested in shooting a deer i can pick up with one hand and tie they rope with the other makes me feel like a dik. last year i got caught in a cross fire from a young kids shooting a 75 pounder apart with a shotgun, his dad stepped in only when he was aiming directly at ME after about the 5th hole she finally went down. i just said nice job son now you got your work cut out for ya

It was in 2-F. The buck in 2-C is still alive, I believe. Heard rumors that there is one in 4-A but I don't know for sure....WF

Is there any truth to the story that the PGC has finally admitted that coyotes are decimating the deer herd  and are  introducing Wolves and Mountain lions to Penns Woods  to control the coyotes?

The mountain lions are a myth. The grey wolves, however , are a present threat to all deer, house cats and slow coyotes. The numbers consumed are mind boggling. That is the reason they can say that coy dogs are not a problem....WF

Send in the wolves. They sing at night also but with more of a baritone sound. With 3 or more, there is also a harmonic effect. I think it comes from eating turkey giblets....WF

The PGC will get right on correcting the deer and giraffe isse just as soon as they tackle the bats-on-the-endangered-species problem that will block off huge areas formerly available for hunting so that the little critters are not disturbed.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

You should see the fancy BAT HOUSE the PGC and Forest Service put up the time and money to build on public land in Warren county.  Now if I could just get the ones in my barn to move into it I would be saved a lot of time cleaning up after them.

Point noted---- I should have said put up the hunters money for non-game species.  The Bat house is nicer than most camps.
