Big Carp

I can't get them, I only get carp around 7 to 8 pounds, any tips or places to fish? I usually fish the river, canonsburg and a local pond or two where we have seen a few big ones, but can't catch them. I would just like to catch one or two that push 15 or so pounds before the summer ends.

Fish a hair rig, use dry dog food on it, make a small drill out of a small drill bit and a glue stick. Put the food on the hair rig, open your drag all the way or you will loose your pole. Where there are small carp I would bet there are large ones that are very smart. Youtube can teach you about hair rigs. I have caught very large carp on the other side of the bridge to the left in the yards at Canonsburg lake. Not far from the small parking area by the bridge. I also caught a good one off the cement slab by the boat launch, but watch at dark I had about a 5' northern watersnake wrap around my rig while i was using the potty. They stay in the rock cages.

When we fished in the lake we fished closer to the dam, we will have to give it a shot further up the lake. And I will have to look into that rig, second time someone told me about it

if you're carp fishing and not using a hair rig. you're wasting your time. i'd go with a chod rig for mud and weed and a bolt rig for hard open bottoms. both tied to a short hair rigged hook link.

corn is also dink bait. you might want to go with something different.

Paradise lakes was supposed to have stocked 2500lb of catfish 2 Thursdays ago. A bunch of guys from my area went there the next day and that would be like 200 fish per lake. We did not see any swiming the edges like stocked catfish do the first 24 hours and by 3am the place was empty and most there agreed there was not many fish stocked. When they do stock you can sure tell. One of the friends owned a paylake years ago and you can tell when cats are stocked. Even in my honest opinion there was not 2500lb as they stated stocked. When they stock that many there are dead ones along the edges and a good bit of them, there were none. Big carp they are there and 84 lakes has them also, they are in the Mon river also.

I have a few videos for hair rigs. These are a few years old but will show you what you need to do. The 1st one shows what not to do and the 2nd video shows you how to actually tie it.
