Beaverdam Res?

Just learned about a new Res in Cambria County named Beaver dam Res.  Through some research I have found that they have stocked about 20,000 Lake trout in there over the past 20 years and the fishing reports on PA Fish and Boat say that they are catching some really nice bass out of there.  Is anyone familiar with this place, and if so, any info I could get for shore fishing would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

My wife doesn't understand that the more I fish, the better chance I have of going pro.... Am I the only one??

The only shore fishing I know of is right off the only road that I know goes past it, route 869 the runs from beaverdale all the way to 99. but looking at google maps now it looks like you can shore fish by the d a m. I know there is a small handicapped dock by the parking area off 869, but driving past when I go to fish bob's creek it looks pretty hairy fishing from most of shore. But good luck let us know how you do.

If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.

I live about 10 minutes from there.  Yes there are some really nice big fish in there and there are quite a few smallmout in there as well.  The lake is not fertile though so the reprodution rate up there is very bad.  Thats why i put everything i catch up there back.  The water up there is really clear and the bass spook easy so ya gotta sneek up on them.  I dont fish it from shore though, i have a 12' boat i take up with a trolling motor on the back of it. If you park right off 869 there are alot of places to fish from shore.  There is a trail that goes along the dam for a little ways that you can walk and find a spot.  You cant fish the dam from shore though.  The one bad thing about the place is its right on top of the mountain and it is almost always windy up there to the point that its really hard to fish.  But if you go up on a calm eve you should be fine.  One thing i will tell you is do not get caught wading up there.  They keep an eye on it and they will fine you if they see you wading.  Hope this helps.

There are very few or no lake trout there.  I'm not sure why the PFBC wasted their money stocking them there.  The lake is not deep enough and there are none of the right baitfish.
