Notice that the cats that are being stocked are fingerlings or yearlings. Neither have a large survival rate when being stocked in such small numbers. Indian Lake sometimes gets stocked with adult channels by the North Hunt. Twnshp.,since it is a Twnshp. lake. I would like to see them stock some more adult cats & reduce the limit so that the cats can help reduce the numbers of small Crappie in there.I have watched guys dragging a doz. or so catfish on a rope out of there after a stocking. sam

That is the point that I was trying to make about lowering the limit on these small lakes.Indian Lake is approx. 4 1/2 acres 1or2 good catfishermen could remove most of the cats by themselves. Then you would never see any. sam

I think they need to put a state wide limit on catfish period! thay are listed under panfish and you can keep 50 if you want. need to be a limit like walleye 15inch and 5 keep or bigger. doesn't matter what size just need a limit.

^ a huge plus 1. I have personally seen as much as 20 or more on a stringer before(not at that lake though). Seriously, how many fish can people eat? Take home a couple once in a while if you choose, and release the rest. I really think the limit being 50 is extremely crazy. I couldn't even imagine filleting 50 catfish, that would take forever.

keeping 50 of anything is ridiculous especially when you're talking about small lakes like twin or indian lake. i'd like to see something like a 10 fish bag limit for panfish/catfish.

I love catfish fishing!Night fishing with cut bait for channels or live bait for flatheads.can't stand going to lakes or rivers during the day everyone on the water, just to crowded for me that why i fish for cats. The fish commission needs to think about what they are doing, they let you keep 50 catfish a day that they stock. doesn't make sense to me to spend that kind of money to raise fish and let you keep that many of them.

I agree about lowering the limit, but as far as the PFC wasting money by stocking them, keep in mind that they rarely stock adult catfish, usualy fingerlings or fry. They are cheaper to raise, but have a low survival rate. The PFC is counting that the survivers will then reproduce by the thousands on thier own.The situations that we were talking about was when these county & twnshp lakes stock adults for kids derbies & such & the meat hunters show up to catch as many as they can.I would think that in the wild there are few places where anyone could catch 50 in a day. sam

Wow this is great news. I've been to Indian Lake a few times just walking around but have never fished it because I thought it only had trout. Does anyone do any good out there fishing for cats? Or is it only immediately after township stockings? How about carp or other species? Would be nice if there were somewhere around here to do some catfishing besides the paylakes.

Find a dam on any of the rivers...fish either cut bait or live bait on the bottom with a slip rig...wait for catfish to bite. Plain and simple, gotta love it.
