you just have to tweak the Eye in the bill of reef runners.  Here check this video out.  Start 50sec into the clip.  You can use needle nose pliers if you dont have the tool. Thats what i do.   Once you get these things tuned the really catch some fish.

Check the belly and tail eyes, too. Make sure they are straight. Also don't be afraid to whack it on any hard surface. Sometimes, the bearings/rattles will "stick" inside the bait.

Watching the lure along side the boat gets you close, but I fine tune by doing the following.   (Works best with two people)

Get your boat to trolling speed and keep the boat straight.  Stand back at the transom.   Keep your pole pointed straight back and let approx 50 feet of line out.  If the lure is running true your line will run straight behind the pole.  I tweak the lure eye (very small adjustments), if the line runs left or right of the direction the pole is pointed.

I usually take one afternoon at the end of the season, to check and adjust all of my lures.

Good point. On the ones that are tricky you can take the belly hook right off. Plus you'll get a touch more depth

I would never do this.  There have been times where ive caught walleye only on the front treble.  Also had walleye hit infront of the bait with the tail sticking straight out of its mouth. lol

It is not a good idea to tune a bait in the propwash.
If a bait is slightly out of whack, there is no way you will be able to tell if the bait is 50' back.

Just yesterday I bought 8 RR's. Right off the bat the ones I used didn't run true but thats known about the RR's. I check them out each time I reel in because many times I have to tune it because it wasn't swimming right after the walleye had it.
