Wild trout
Found a wild rainbow fingerling last year in the stream that runs through my yard. I'm over 2 miles from Oil Creek and they must have found a way to get up this trickle of a stream. The boy and I were netting fish in the creek tonight and got another small rainbow. Pretty sure it is a bow and not a Brownie, the one last year was bigger and definetly a bow... Has to be a breeding pair somewhere between here and Oil Creek, that's 2 years in a row for a successful spawn. Couple pics...

Bings, I used to find the same baby bows on our trickle on our family farm on Hatchtown, upstream from 5 mile, which in turn runs into Oil Creek. I think you know where I'm talking about. I always wondered how they made it up halfway up the mountain???

I know right where you were. Still some wild Brownies in that vicinity.

They do look more like those little Brownies than bows after looking at some pics.

the red spots on the lateral line and the yellowish tint to the body and pec fins on the brown... vs the red/green hue on the rainbow with all dark spots hardly scientfic... but it seams to work

Hit a half mile of stream today with the boy. Found a couple more small Brownies a half mile upstream from the last one.

I'm not sure what part of Oil Creek you are near, but I've caught a few fingerling brown trout in Thompson run over the past few years.

I think they are rainbows. Wild browns don't have the deep v in the tail that these babies area sporting. But i'v been wrong before.
