Best knot for Suffix Monofiliment
I've been trying Suffix line instead of the old faithful Trilene. Suffix doesn't seem to have a problem with coiling like the trilene. The only problem is that the Suffix seems more slippery than the trilene. A couple of knots have failed. Usually I use the double imporved clinch knot. Has anyone else had this problem. Whats the best knot to use with Suffix?

Try the palomer knot, very easy to tie, and pretty sure it would keep from slipping. I use it on powerpro line, which is pretty slippery, and works fine. Only issue is getting larger diameter line in small holes. I usually go in once with the line, then back in to make a loop, rather than trying to make a loop go through the lure/hook hole.

I like the trilene knot for mono or flouro. I will use the palomar for tandem rigs, but the palomar seems to fail before the trilene. If your just tying on a hook, try a snell knot.

Not what Berkely's Knot Wars says... They are the developers of Triline, and still give the overall nod to the palomar (although tied for flouro and mono lines). Can't say that you'd go wrong with the triline knot. But I wouldn't say it is better, when even the developers of it won't.

Could just be the situation I'm using it in... With tension on the tag and mainline in a tandem rig, or just a bad tie(im careful and do wet the line). But if my tandem rig breaks, 99% of the time I lose both hooks. Just my experience, i dvr na fisherman and have watched knot wars. The palomar is very easy to tie.

Thanks for the tips, I've got a book on knots so I can try all the suggested knots. Hope to give them a try this weekend.

FishnGuy, I am personally yet to find a good tandum rig knot. I lost a real nice one on a teaser fly last time out. It split the inside of a blood loop knot (also called dropper loop), so the knot itself didn't fail, but same result... They work great in heavy test line, when salt water fishing teasers, but snapped my 10lb flouro leader material. It seemed like a pretty nice fish, but no excuse. Most articles that I have read on drop shotting, use the palomar, but don't have to worry about fighting a fish on the tag line. I prefer the top bait to stick out a little from the running line too. Especially salt water, with a bluefish taking off with both of your lures...

i've also had the trilene knot slip when using sufix mono. the trilene knot will work though, you just have to make several more wraps around the main line than you normally do.

http://video.fishingclub....video/Knot-Wars-Finale Loop Knot champ Watched Knot Wars finale a couple weeks back for mono & the Triline topped the ever so popular Palomar by a few lbs. They were even surprised it beat the Polomar for the champion ship. crappy

Crappy, That's for a loop knot. This is the only thing that I have seen them do on the two head to head. Both had the line break before the knot, so couldn't call a winner. Knot Wars is sponsored by the owner of Triline, so I am sure no bias in getting the name Triline out there... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91aqhBQFLPk

Yeah Pork that's why I put Loop Knot champ after the link. The one I saw on TV the other week the mighty Polomar vs. the Triline knot was like Invicta mentioned & wrapped 4-6 times rather than the standard 3. At least that's what I THINK I REMEMBER crappy

I typically use the lucky 7 wrap trilene knot with 4-8lb line. 5 or 6 w heavy stuff or a palomar. The trilene seems to want to pull out w heavy line(40-60lb leader material) making it necessary to leave a longer tag end causing twists and tangles, palomars don't slip.

With mono and just a hook, I never have any issues with a standard cinch knot... I'll us the palomar on lures

i like using a palomar knot on my main line to connect to a swivel. i connect my hook link to the swivel with an improved clinch knot. 9 times out of 10, if i snag. the clinch knot goes first. so i just lose my hook link and not the rest of my rig. it saves money, when sinkers cost $3 a piece.

I use a palomar on everything from mono, fluro, braid and never had an issue. Just make sure the line is nice and moist when you cinch it down and I usually throw 2 or 3 overhand over the palomar.
