Yough report at Coulter - 6/14/12
Took the boat out for a test run since I hadn't run it since I rebuilt the carb and replaced a few things. After a few minor adjustments to make it run a little richer, it ran like a top. I put a 1/2" shim under the motor mount thinking the motor was sitting a little low (cavitation plate looked to be about 3/4" below the transom with the motor on the next to bottom hole). But, I guess I should have left it alone. Any kind of sharp turn had the prop blowing out. Moved the motor down to the last hole and things improved a lot but it would still blow out if I made a sharp turn. I'll be removing the shim.
Took a dozen med. fatheads and some worms with me and floated the section b/w the turner valley riffles and the island. Landed 10 smallies and I guess spotted bass....didn't look like largemouths to me, with the biggest smallie pushin' 14" or 15", a bunch of rock bass and a nice 4#+ channel cat. Had lots of small bass on that threw the hook on the first or second jump and several hits that were probably rockies stealing bait. Water was warm at 75 degrees, flowing decent and a slight stain with maybe 2-3' of visibility.
