Fishin with my boys

Ok, I've been wanting to do this for a while, but have never been able to figure out how to post pics. but I figured I'd finally give it a try.
Several weeks ago i was able to purchase a 16' fishing boat from a gentleman on Craigs list.

I've had a small 12 foot aluminum boat to fish from, but now I have something i feel better taking my boys out in.

As soon as I had a chance I took my oldest boy Corban out to Lake Arther for the day.

Here he is ready to leave the dock.
We didn't set the world on fire catching fish, but we did catch a few and we had a great time together.

This past weekend my family spent the day swimming and boating at Crooked Creek and my youngest boy Caden got to get out on the boat for the first time. We didn't fish for very long, but we were catching Crappie within a few minutes of the minnow hitting the water.

here is his big one

Corban got some action too.

I'm loving the new boat, but what i'm loving even more is the opportunities it is giving me to get out and make some memories with my boys.
Thanks for looking. Tight lines, and God bless!
(Boy I hope these pics show up, because if not this is going to be the lamest post ever! )

    Thanks Fisherlady.
I had to do some internet research and make some phone calls, but found out the motor is a 1956 15HP Johnson. When I bought the boat and motor I was told that it was a 10 HP, apparently the guy who owned it before me didn't know.
The day I went to look at the boat, the motor wouldn't start. So I made the guy a lower offer which he accepted. After changing the plugs, my Dad and I were trying to get it started and found water in the gas. We emptied and cleaned the tank, put a fresh batch of gas in it and within a few pulls it started right up.
I can't believe how much better this motor pushes the boat than the 7.5 Gamefisher I had been using. I couldn't be happier with the boat, now all I need to do is get it set up with the bow mount trolling motor and Hummingbird unit I have.

Yeah DT, he was raring to go when we left the dock in the morning, and he did great all day. But I don't think we were even out of the park before he was asleep on the drive home

I'll echo everyone else's sentiments...these are the memories that last a lifetime.  If I were you, I'd frame every one of those pics twice...one for Dad, one for Son.  Those smiles are positively priceless.  Good for you.

Cool! I'm actually going to be taking both of them to Wolf Island in Ontario Canada the first week in September. The wife will be staying home with our new born (also a boy) who is due at the end of this month. So it will be a great time with my two oldest boys and my parents. Hopefully I'll get to see each of them catch their first Northern.

never lame when a dad can spend quality time with his children.... those are memories that last a lifetime. Nothing better than see a child smile and having fun.
    Congratulations
