River Monsters

No, not from the Salmon river.
Anyone watch the show on Animal planet.  That guy catches some crazy fish.   He was fishing in  Alaska I think and a bear comes out and steals a fish  that he has caught it looked like a steelhead.

Was always sooprised that no bear reports ever came from the SR even with all the humans around and the fact that just North of there seems to have a great bear population.
I know guys who go up there just to work the dogs, Ya cant shoot bear over dogs there but they get lotsa action. Hunted bear with the dog guys in other states for years. We did more lookin than shootin but it was always a hoot. Them be a buncha hard core tough ol hombres to hang with.
Was told that due to the heavy snow belt tween the lake and Tug that no bears were around that particular area.
That TV show is almost up there with 'swamp people'.

There are bears around, I don't really think we have a population to speak of, but they wander in.  Last fall my neighbor got a picture of one across the road  about 500 yards from my house.  Then my dad calls me a few days later and tells me he went by and my dog  (rottweiler)  is off out near the road in front  of my house.  I saw "He's right here lying down"  look out and the bear is now making it's way back to my compost pile to eat.  Dog's started barking and scared it away before I could get a picture
