Not sure if it has been dredged yet.

I duck hunted off Shades launch this past December (launched out of East Ave). The water in the channel leaving the breakwalls was knee deep at best. I had to push my boat through with the motor up. Be careful if it has not been dredged.....

I launched my 24' boat there Tuesday night.  The marina basin seemed to be about 3.5'.  I kept my drive way up and was still kicking up some mud.  At the mouth of the marina it is about 2' for about 25 yards.  Then it drops to about 5' until you get to the red and green boueys when it comes back up to 2.5' where it looks like it has never been dredged.  This shallow section is about 50 yards.  I probably will not launch there again until they dredge and wouldn't have tried it Tuesday except it was flat calm and I could see bottom the whole way out to look for obstacles.

I looked at it on my way home today.  Where do I start.....Ok thought about it and they should wreck it and start from scratch.  DO OVER !!!

Its not been dredged yet and it looks like I could wade my way out rather than take the boat out from it.

Its been bad from the word GO , I hope they do something to fit all the problems its had from the beginning.

If you do launch there I suggest go real slow untill its dredged or completely fixed .

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm only going out in a 16 foot starcraft (60hp main motor, 9.9 kicker), but I'm still paranoid about tagging bottom. I think I'll launch at Northeast tomorrow, rather than Shades Beach. I've only launched at Northeast once before. I used to always launch at Lampe because I kept the Erie boats I previously owned stored at Erie Angler / east boat storage facility. So far, the conditions look safe for heading out in a 16 footer. I'll be staying near shore as I'm only targeting smallies. I've been out on Erie in this boat before. It handles Erie well provided the conditions are good. I wouldn't take it out if there were any possibility of storms however.

I saw on the news that Harborcreek sued the company that built it and got a settlement from them. I think they plan on doing some work on it after this boating season. I don't recall what all they plan on doing though.

Even a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work.
