Not Exactly "UC"

As in "Ubersnob Correct," but after I built my first rod, I was asked by a special kid if I would build her a fishing rod. Wanting to improve upon my first-build skills and do something nice for a really sweet child, I sought dispensation from the highest levels of the UFA and got a blanket "For the Children" exception (Article VIII, §23, Paragraph 8 of the UFA Code of Conduct, Annotated). I let her pick out any color in 5'6 UL she wanted and she went with a purple rod with "grape" thread.

Had the rod finished in February, then I found a couple of bad spots in the finish, so I put it in the corner and decided when I wasn't too busy, I'd sand 'er down and fix it. That took another month. Then it sat in the corner again until I had time to find a reel to match up to it.

Gonna take it out tomorrow and let her try it.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere.

    Excellent work!

To explain to the non-UFA out there, the purpose of having a "For the Children" excpetion is to garner a general interest in fishing and then to be able to show them the straight, just, and right path once they are able to understand.  It is a teaching method that is based on the theory that in order for one to know how or what to do right, one must first know what is wrong.

Just a side note, it is not the annotated version of the UFA code, but the abridged.  A slight difference to be sure, but a difference nonetheless.
