Sons first bird

Not that he hasn't tried for a few years, just always had something or someone get in the way before...

Heck of a bird for a first one, 23# and 11 1/2" beard, 1 1/8" spurs.

Sure was exciting!

Heck of a bird for the first one...second one...third one...
ya know, I've still never bagged one over 10.5"....

question: is 1/5th really half a tenth?

Congrats the boy on the boss! Way to go!

Real nice bird, congrats, grandson had the gun up several times but needed a few more steps that didn't happen. If the snow keeps up we will still have tracking snow for the weekend.

    WOW...that's a nice bird....
Took me years to get in on some big ones...

Can you have him tell us the story. What time he got him? Was he alone? How long did you work him to get the shot? In a field or woods?

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Wags, I'll see if I can get him to tell the story. I've heard it at least 100 times already and still enjoy hearing it...

The really funny thing is that he had no idea that he shot a trophy, he was just stoked to have finally gotten his first turkey. He said "Wow, these things get heavy when you're carrying them"..

Thanks Rich, he's a good kid although the way he's bulking up and growing I'm glad I thumped him arm wrestling last year...

Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.
