DSR.. New Site

i see they have a new site as a changing of guards.. it looks nice and may take a bit to sink in..
thing that struck out to me was Year round.. I know in past only lodge staying had access but I do not see that now..
That would be pretty sweet in future wanting to fish drop backs.. In past they locked down first week in May.. Always seemed a bit to early for me when they would be prime there.. Heck, one reason I didnt fish for them, dsr would have been a past pass holders choice of water then..

My hope is that new site dont come at a cost, not bashing.. I love it there for salmon and wish to contine my future out on their water if possible..

Dime any intel ??

I like the new site myself but have only looked as far in to the reports section. I have met the new management a few times but have yet to ask what next season will hold. I should be up in the next week or so and will be seeking some more info myself. I'll let you know when I do. Id love to fish down there all year round. The past 2 years I've done well on drop backs right until closing on may 9th. Up until 2 years ago they used to close on april 30th. It seemed some years drop backs were only just showing up right around when they'd close. May 9th definitely spiced it up a bit. Honestly I avoided drop backs for most of my time. Only the past 5 oryears so years I've been targeting them. Before that I usually ended my season end of march... I had the mentality of letting them have their rest... now I have a different outlook on it.

For dsr, my main concern is the fee for the season pass. I will not be happy if they increase it this year.

Jack, I agree with the daily fee being way too high.. with a potential of 250 + days of access, I think the season pass is well worth...only my humble opinion though. On average I am usually in there 30 days out of the year...before wife and kids it was sometimes double that....this was for sure an off year for me

I have thought long and hard about the pass since I live right around the corner and could go up alot. Problem for me is it is a ton of money, there is plenty more river to fish and my buddy could never afford one and I go with him alot. I would love to fish salmon up there when they are more eager to hit. $45 a day is too steep for a per day for me, I would easily pay $15 to $20. If they can get it though more power to them.

Clint it is steep. I paid for 3 days the  beggining  of last Sept. . 2 of the days were absolutely lifetime memory  epic. If things look right to catch an early run it can be worth it. I'm sure HT and I will be going again at that time, hopefully you'll go with us one  day.  If they raise the price anymore, I'll be up in the black hole waiting for them with every other poor guy.    Or waiting for you to give me a hint where....

this was not a for or against thread.. hey we all try to make the most of our time spent on the water.. I like fishing there and will continue to do for salmon if & when possible..

Remember the Cycle things ? Well Mine has changed 3 years ago to other areas in the fall ..
Just knowing I can fish in that location for a few coin when it's salmon time is key and ok to me.. 4 trips in there is still within reason here.. The Season pass was not when clients fell off and 30 + salmon days ended bringing me to now my fishing time..
I had a blast this fall with folks here on other areas of water in later Oct so all good to me..

This thread was about , really, being open all season..
Again I WANTED to fish there 2nd week in May, and in future would like to know if thats possible.. You know , a Normal winter..

Also Nice new site they have going:
Maybe a sign of better things ahead too..

Tuna, from what I read on the site it seems as if it is different activities that they are referring to as "all year long"... but i'll be sure to get to some specifics from them this weekend. Clint, are you fishing Sunday???? Have you ever been to dsr??? If you're free this Sunday i'll give you one of my comp passes for the day so you can get a head start on the sweet spots before this salmon season. Besides, something tells me there are going to be a lot of feisty drop backs down there this weekend. Let me know...

I remember those kinda days down there Tuna- and they didnt happen just once in a while either- Guys who never saw that stuff will never really understand what it was like 'back then'.
Many many days the fishies just kept comin and comin and comin----Ya would look down river and it looked like a hours long hail storm with all the splashin.
Guy upriver said to me this year that a 'big run' had come by him in the AM- "bout 50 fish".

I looked at the site and "Year Round" is for other activities. If you click on purchase a pass then the pink box to bring up the calendar it only goes to April 30......that's not good.

It seems like a smart phone for dummies.. New things take time to absorb.. Except the actual fishing :)
It was just a thought for future without staying in the lodges..
The real ambitious folks would be in their Yak ( j-boat) at the estuary or river mouth ..Hint..
But heck gas was $4.15 toady and 40 lbs. are swimming out back..LMAO..
    Have fun !!

Give us the detail db if you get out..

2 things that I noticed on the new site. don't get me wrong i am not anti DSR (I lived in one of DSR house for 12 year, just above the spring hole) I noticed a couple things under fishing.

1.Fishing at the DSR offers guests an unforgettable, private water experience. They use to call it a public access private fishery? Sorta like a public golf course privately owned but open to the public.

    2. You won't experience shoulder to shoulder casting or trash strewn banks. Kind of condescending isn't it. Like the rest of the river is full of cavemen. chit flows down hill, it's just that he has paid employees picking it up, while the rest of the river relies on volunteers.

Again I'm not bashing just pointing it out.

Yes, the first 3 years they had river wardens, I was one of the original Red Coats. I have never paid to fish there. and have no plans of paying in the future. lol It was a great place to raise my son, who was between the ages of 2 and 14.
