northmoreland lake

I took a ride to Northm'd on the way to do some Crappie fishing this afternoon & was surprised to see that there was tons of room to fish. My son was operating a food concession trailer & while I was talking to him for about 1/2 hr. before I left,I only saw a few trout caught near the handicapped pier. Guys seemed to be catching more panfish & bass than trout. At least at that end of the lake. sam

I went there in the afternoon. It was sad to see the amount of people there vs. the amount of fish being caught. I saw 2 young kids that had about 4 each on a stringer. Other than that I think I only seen 4 trout caught the entire time I was there....and there were tons of people there.

What time were you there Sam?

I was there about the same time that the drizzle started. I did see some trout being taken home in bags & on stringers, but saw very few taken while I was there(about 45 min.)I was surprised to see that in the area I was watching that most of the people were not throwing lures or jigs, they were just sitting there soaking bait & complaining that the fish were already wiped out. I would like to offer a bit of advise to those that are having trouble catching any fish:once that you find something that is not working, try something else.I just don't see how standing or sitting in one place staring at your line can be fun.I get more fun from trying different things, but that is just my opinion. sam

I'd agree with you Sam. I got there just before the drizzling start and tried a bunch of live bait...nothing was working even for the pan fish. I saw those 2 youngsters each with a stringer full and they said they were using spinners. The thing that was depressing to me was I talked to someone that had been there since 6:00 am and they seen very few trout caught all around the lake.
