Music While Fishing?

Am I the only member of the club?
I find that at urban streams or lakes there is no such thing as really good peace and quite. At those places I find it more peaceful to be in my own little world while fishing listening to my ipod. Last week you could have found me by a little local pond fly fishing (trying) and singing either Frank Sinatra or Jason Derulo. It's my own way of finding peace where there is little.

If you are guilty of this to please share who you listen to. I'm open minded.

If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.

I like to sing some Doo Wop while fishing. Oddly, unlike others I never have an issue with "crowding"

I have a misc. MP3 mix CD in my boat. AC/DC, Clarks, Badlees, BR-549, U2, Bob Seger, GnR, Eagles, Sister Hazel, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, 4 non blondes and some other stuff I can't think of right now. Throw that one on random and you get some interesting playlists!

edit.....remembered some more. Blue Rodeo, Whiskeytown, Echotown, Cellarbird.

i'm usually too distracted by the water, wind, birds, fish, bugs, rocks, etc. to even think about music. it never fails though, at least once a year i get stuck somewhere, where some family is blasting a radio, always crappy music, and never a cd. so i have to hear some dj blah, blah, blahing, and then there's the 45 minutes of commercials between the music. needless to say, those are my extra short fishing trips. also why i quit listening to the radio. i don't see anything wrong with listening to the radio when you're fishing, but why does it always have to be loud enough for half the county to hear? or maybe i'm just the lucky one who happens to find these people on the 1 or 2 days a year they're out fishing.

i kinda like to hear people singing to themselves while fishing. it's kinda natural. like Inuit fishermen or something. unless they're bad at singing, then it kinda reminds me of a sasquatch  mating call. still natural, but kinda funny and a little sad. lol

Lol... not sad you wait until you find a big guy (me) on the stream hitting the high notes of Bahemian Rhapsody. Then, and only then will I have that section of water to myself.

If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.

I prefer to listen to the sounds of nature. The birds, the stream...and the Elk that happen to be wandering around.

Unfortunately, we get stuck listening to the neighbors at the next door camp that feel Sunday morning is the perfect time to fire off 3 or 4 boxes of 44Mag ammo at beer cans! - Then rev their Harleys just for fun.

That kind of sounds, more like redneck behavior, than city people... Although, there is trashy folks in all locations.

I usually go musicless when I fish. Although, I do have a small portable speaker that I will take on my boat at times. Sometimes listen to Pirate games, but mostly music if it is on. It doesn't get loud enough to bother anyone, and rarely within 50 feet of another boat, unless moving. And who wouldn't want to hear the Paintn' the Town Brown version of Poopship Destroyer anyway? Great song to put on a jukebox before leaving a dive bar...

I love having my noise wars at Peter's Lake with the guy who is always mowing his lawn, the dogs at the kennel, and the psychotic rooster that crows for 6 am - 5pm.

It's extremely rare that I'll have music because I'm almost always wading, but every once in a while if I'm still fishing I'll bring along a radio, but I keep the music real low in case people around me don't want the distraction. It could be music, sermons, talk radio, dramas...any of a number of things.

Combine this little diddy, and the occassional heated arguement with yourself. You'll be afforded plenty of peacful solitude

Normally I am zoned into the environment around me. But places like Lock 3, crowded Steelhead streams, or a busy lake will see me putting on some Radiohead or David Bowie. Actually, I really dig some of the local bands on the water when boating, like Rusted Root or Donnie Iris if I am speed fishing for bass. The earbuds do make it easy....
