Albright vs Surgeon's

Alright so I'm going to be fishing for tarpon pretty soon and I'm going to have 50lb ghost 832 advanced superline sufix braid as my mainline and my leader will be 75lb sufix invisi-line flourocarbon. My leader is going to be about 5 feet long, and i was wondering what knot i should use to tie the leader to the braid? I heard that the surgeon's knot was a great knot for flouro to braid, but I wasn't sure if I should use the albright knot instead?.....I was also considering just getting a 100lb barrel swivel and improved clinch knotting the braid to one side and the flouro to the other. Any ideas or suggestions?

    I use albrights or swivels. Not sure how experienced you are w albrights, but they can be a little tricky to tie just right. But its def a good knot. Practice makes perfect.

    I always used an improved albright for tying on my top shots of mono (50 yds or so) on all my surf gear. I was backed with either 30# or 65# Power pro with 40# Big Game (or heavier, depending on the size of the sharking gear). Never had that knot fail on 40-50" redfish or sharks up to 6'. It even went through the roller guides well on my heavy rod with a 9/0 reel.

    Im a fan of the surgeon's, but I dont tarpon fish.

    The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

    good call eyes, i just learned about this like 2 weeks ago, strong, and keeps the wraps from trying to sneak down over the bend, for lack of better words

    I could not agree more. It took me 5-6 tries at the albright to get it just right each time there after. Its strong and casts through the rod eyelets very well with very little resistance and hangups.
    currently using this knot to tie 12lb flouro leader about 10'-15' long to 15 lb power pro. on spinning reel. I have no negative reports about the knot so far. But this is the first time using this knot , like it so far.

    ever try a double uni knot?  I use it exclusively for tying braid to floro, anything from dropshotting for smallies to livebaiting for tarpon and snook, easy to tie , goes through the guides very well.

    Albright is the preferred knot when joining 2 lines of varying diameters. I use the uni splice for light leaders, but albright for heavy leaders.

    I checked it out a little on the net Fishinguy and you are definately right,  saw some videos and some posts from other forums ,  well looks like I need to start using this cuz it's definately a better knot and if it gets me one more fish when it counts it's worth it. thanks
