I have never seen a closed season sign, and I've fished my entire life.

They have approved trout waters which will say "close march 1 to april 14"

Then they'd have to take the signs down the day before the opener, than people who drive by before the opener will think it will be closed and wont go first day, hey i just had a brilliant idea. I'm making closed season signs and putting em on my favorite streams ....

Yepper, exactly what I'm talking about.  It behooves an agency that raises a few million dollars worth of fish, for the attraction and enjoyment of scores of anglers (many youngsters on the first day), to pop said sign up on the most popular pull-offs (read larger stocked holes), alerting the folks that may not have a clue that the season closes for a while.  If those signs are ignored or are not comprehended, then the folks are either looking to skirt the law, or are very dim bulbs that deserve the fine that will hopefully be forthcoming.

Hey, I even lived by the words in your sig. line.  I witnessed what I thought were potential violations, did a smidgeon of research to find out they indeed were, and even acted upon it by calling the Regional Office.... which more than likely resulted in stepped up patrols.  Are you proud of me ?   I didn't think so.

That's great. All I was saying, is that you could possibly have saved some unwitting/uninformed anglers a citation ( as a result of those steppedup patrols ), had you spoken up.

Yinz remember that 70's song ?  "Willy go round in circles ?"  Well Puffy feels like Willy right about now.   Listen, had I known for sure they were not legal at the time, and had I not been in such a haste to fill my gut with rotgut liquor after a long days work, I probably would have spun around, wheels peelin and all, and popped in to tell them they better skidaddle or risk a fine.  I wouldn't have even stormed the stream with my "9" drawn.  It would have been a polite exchange.  BUT, it isn't my job to cruise the creeks across the commonwealth, playing the role of Troutman, saving all the feesh.  That tends to be the folks at the PFBC, so I called to let them know their $2.47 fish were slowly being removed from an "Approved" stream, and it would probably be wise to add some signage if they took umbrance to that fact.
