Greenlick Lake

Many boats on the water today and several other people shore fishing. Did not see any fish except the two bass I caught 11 and 17 inch. Then I took a header into the rocks and smacked my knee and shoulder pretty good. Ended up in the emergency room - have to see a specialist may need surgery. What a bummer.

Sorry to hear about the fall Wally Cat... I hope it doesn't take too long to heal up. Would hate to see your fishing season messed up with it. Those are the kind of injuries you would rather be stuck with during bad weather, not good weather! (as if there's actually a better time to have them at all! )

Looks more like a balloon than a knee, about four times it's normal size.
Will try and make arrangements through my family doc tomorrow to get in to see a specialist ASAP.

bummer man. you're not alone in having crashed on the rocks. i nearly peed my pants watching my friend do a header off the rocks into the lake about 2 weeks ago. i didn't know if i could help him get back out of the water since i was laughing so hard. but he survived with minimal bruising.

i hope you get through recovery and all that, as fast as possible.

Sorry to hear that Wally. Hope it isn't that serious. If the knee is as big as you say it is, watch out for that big syringe they're gonna use to drain it! That thing is no fun...

Next time, i'll keep my trap shut and let them throw all the tax rocks in the lake, for safety's sake!

Eyes, that's what the ER doc said that it is filled with fluids and will probably have to be drained. Not looking forward to that but I'm sure it will help and if that's all they have to do I'll consider myself darn lucky. Even with it being a recent accident won't be able to see an orthopedic surgeon untill Wed afternoon. In the mean time I guess I'll just suck down my Vicodin and read.

Sorry to hear about your fall Walt. Hope all goes well. I fell on the rocks on Clear Shade creek one time. I laid there for a while but just had some bumps and bruises. Nothing serious.

Yikes, keep ice on it, and get better asap! This weather is too nice!

I don't eat catfish anymore. One day I caught one, it was the most fun I ever had catching a fish and when i held him, he started talking to me. I respected that fish, and I promised him i wouldn't hurt his kind ever again, but crappies ..well, those are fair game.

Well the vedict is in, did the pre-op testing today and scheduled for surgery Mon. Just wonderful, Doc says about three months to re-coup. What a bummer.

sorry to hear it needs surgery... but glad the doc is just getting it done instead of the "let's try some physical therapy" approach... which usually then ends up being a surgery later anyway

I hope all goes well and recovery is quick for you...

What's wrong Wally? ACL, MCL, LCL, meniscus? I have hardware in my right knee. Just make sure you follow the doc's orders and do all your therapy. Worst thing you can do is get lethargic and not move it around (depending on what they are doing)

They had my\e in a passive motion machine an hr after surgery. Mine wasn't too painful but I didn't have "major" surgery like acl, etc. My knee cap kept getting dislocated when playing sports and getting stuck to the side or behind my knee. After 6 times, I opted to have the surgery to re-align it. Where the patellar tendon attached to the shin, they got their version of a sawzall out and sliced off a piece of shin bone with the tendon attached, slid it over a little and fastened her down with a couple titanium screws. Had that done back in '96 and it has been real good since then. Only complaint is they didn't countersink the screw heads enough and when I take a hard fall on that knee on a b-ball court or other hard surface, they sometimes poke through the skin.

Good luck with the surgery and the recovery.

They put me into a full leg brace so I cannot bend my knee. As he was probing around my knee yesterday with his fingers he was talking to his nurse and she was taking notes. As soon as he was done he said I'll do surgury on it Monday and I have to open it up. So in the mean time I'll just pout and wait. Even with Vicodin every six hours I'm in a lot of pain, especially when I lower the leg to get up and move. Enough to make me curse.

Get lots of rest, trust me. I just had surgery a couple of weeks ago, I just listened to my body when it was tired I would sleep. It paid off, I got better pretty fast. Plus I would take Vit C and D for awhile to help with the healing.

Hey yw! so about Greenlick, this is kinda sad, but I grew up close to that lake and I still don't know what is in there. I never did much good there since I knew nothing about fishing then, I'd usually just go up to acme dam, high point, or donegal to fish and do a lot better. Is the fishing good there, is it pretty full? And what species are there, I heard you say you got bass, do they stock it?

Maybe you just have a few screws loose?

Wouldn't be the first time I heard that!

Anyways, surprised how warm Greenlick was. 64-66.5 degree surface temp. there yesterday afternoon/evening. Kids had a lot of fun though, when they weren't fighting with each other...

Can't get my son into fishing, I think he got spoiled on reeling all those big fish in, now it's "no big deal." He always turns people down when they say, "hey, buddy you want to real this crappie in?" All he wants to do is what I call "industrialize" the banks, we've got forts, and barracks, highways, and tanks all over the banks of the lake now lol. I've got one muddy kid when I get home.
