smithton yough river access

Does anyone know where I can get to the river in smithton and park a car legally? I hear there's good fishing around there

You can park in town and walk up the railroad tracks then slide down the hill to fish opposite Smithton Beach.

Or you can just fish Smithton Beach.

Go through town, across the tracks and the road parallels the river. There's spots to park along the right side for about a mile. You can also park at Smithton beach, there's a rail trail access lot there.

I'm still looking for parking further up the road at the mouth of Jacob's Creek...

I used to park right where you turn up jacobs and walk across the road down to the mouth. Ask the property owner first. Most times when they see that you are respectful enough to ask they say yes.

If you're fishing for Trout, the reason why you are able to fish for Trout is because the club works very hard to bring the fish for your enjoyment.   That said, do the right thing, and buy a membership button to support the club, that buy's the fish, for our enjoyment.
