I've never been there, but have read on several occasions that they are one of the better preserves in the state.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

Lets us know how it goes and some of your impressions.  Was looking into a hog hunt here as well.

It was different but fun, i liked it, i took about a 300 pound russian boar for some meat with my 7mm short mag, the lodge they have is spectacular, $25 a person if your hunting and i think it was $75 if you were just a guest an not hunting, breakfast and lunch included and it is just a beutiful lodge for an unbeatable price and they had a variety of animals that you could also harvest. It was also a no kill no pay type of deal and our guide CJ was more than willing to assist you in any way possible whether you harvested an animal or not as well as the others, all were tipped well at the end of the day. $650 for my pig, a russian boar, bigger 1s were $850, carolina hogs were $500 or $650, european hogs were priced the same as the russian. They also had a few elk, they were $2500 i believe, a couple rams, i think they were $750, fallow deer, cant remember their price, there was some kinda longhorn bull there, he was $2000 i think, a girl in our group toook the big buffalo they had, $1500 for him and he wasnt an easy kill, the girl must of got excited an hit him low first, she was using a bow, and that made him angry for the rest of the day, the bull charged em around midday and grazed her boyfriend, he was lucky. A few people took some rams, most shot pigs. Both pens that were open were 188 acres i believe and it was challenging, the animals knew what was goin on when they started seeing people roam around the woods, the one pen the boars seemed easier to harvest, the pen where i got mine on the other hand you couldnt get within 150 yards and they'd spook, a few groups of hogs had young and they would charge you if you got too close as well. They have a website = www.thewildernesspa.com

I plan on bowhunting. The thought of charging boar is not pleasant. Been around enough mean domesticated hogs to know they will hurt you. Congrats on the hog.

been to one of these years ago as a guest of a family friend. Never again. The pig hunting is the closest thing to fair game behind a fence you can get but all the other animals mentioned above.....would be way too easy and fish in a barrel. why someone would do that (other than boar) is beyond me. At least that was my experience

Just saw this post, I agree. Great place for a meat hunt, preserve hunts are what they are. But they run a top notch place there. I took a nice Texas Dall ran in 2006.
