There are a few dealers on ebay that have good pricing. I doubt you will find braid too cheap but I have bought huge rolls off of there well below what you would buy it in the store. Just check there feedback rating to see if they are legit.

try amazon. i buy my line from that site. it's usually quite a bit cheaper than any of the stores. plus, it's the only place i've found spools with enough line to fill my carp set up.

If you know someone who trolls with it, they may give you their old line which they replace with fresh!

Don't buy name brand line from sellers on ebay from Asia unless they have been there a while and have over 99% feedback.
Years ago there was a problem with fake powerpro.
Did not happen to me but a lot of people were very disappointed.

in my seach for a cheap backing i found kite line is made of dacron. as for spectra super line braid, some said they have had problems on their spools. it has a tendancy to expand and warp their spool. take that for what its worth. i did buy the kite line and have had it on 4 reels for over a year. here is where i bought it from

The best spectra braid we have used is Jerry Brown Line one Spectra. Its a great product, American made, and much more durable that any other braids that we have used.(PP,Fireline, etc) Plus it comes in some cool colors as well. We bought a 1300 yrd spool directly from Jerry Brown for like 80 bucks or so. Plus he stands by his product and if you have any trouble he will def. take care of it. Great Company. We do use backing while using spectra because it will spin on a spool.
http://www.jerry-brown-industries.com/ I believe his site is under construction.
http://www.charkbait.com/cs/cshL_Spectra.htm This website is very informative on different types of braids.

Overall it MUST have spectra or Dyneema fibers to withstand the elements . Old technology braid ( dacron lines ) are very susceptible to ultra violet light and will tend to fail quicker in comparison to any new formula super line . Pay close attention to the diameter of the braid ( the thinner diameter will get your lures deeper ) and the thicker will make them run higher in the water column due to the resistance factor .
