3/11 Cursed by daylight savings time

Well, I was cursed by daylight savings time and got up at 615 which was really 7:15 and did not get up to the river until 820. There were no spots in the crowded areas. I went up to wires and fished for 1.5 hours with 1 hit and landing 2 suckers. Went back and found a spot. There were alot of fish being landed all around me, but I could not get my hook to set. I got 7 hits in 3 hours on 5 on a pink hammer and one on a red and 1 on a pink stone. Tuna, I threw blue sucker spawn, blue stones and blue hammers with not a touch. Of the fish I saw landed they were all small CC fish. The other thing was that I got some 8# frog hair flouro and used that today with 2 hits , broke it off and switched switched to 6# Seaguar and the hits started more frequently.

Fichy and Tuna there were some guys standing where the rocks end across from where we were on Friday and they cleaned up (better than they did on Friday). Each hooking up about 5 to 6 times an hour.

All in all fishing was pretty hot today, but almost every fish was a a small 5 to 7 lb cutter. No Chromies

A fish is a Fish. Good job Clint and thanks for the report. I will try for next weekend. CC's are better than the skunking I took last time up. Hell, a sucker would have made me happy that trip.

Nice report Clint.. Maybe the word was out about blue ..lol Even still I will be tying lots more in that flavor as well as the go to streamer.. It just HAS to come into play, You never see anyone using it, cept me
Seen they bumped the flow up to 900 and don't know why the 3x didn't treat you well.. I'll never use that Seaguar again, it just didn't treat me well..
see ya soon and keep the local reports coming, well appreciative of that

Thanks, Clint. The usual weekend crowds. Glad you got some activity. I'll be dropping out of here  til next season. Tight lines everyone!

Fich, basically only saw you at the first get together but feel like I know you. Your reports are always honest and helpful. To a guy just starting out that means a lot. Wish you tight lines wherever you travel and I love the pix even if they are not on SR. My boys are at the age where they don't need/want me any more so I hope I will get out more. That includes some salt. Pete

The 3x worked well and I am very happy with it, I actually bought it because you said you had good luck with it. Either A: The fish liked the smaller diameter .20 vs .18 or B: The bite turned on and the line had nothing to do with it.
Is this the stuff you liked http://www.tradetalk.com/Frog-Hair-FluroCarbon-Tippet-Leader-Material-25m/p/255421/82/en

I actually bought the 6lb Seaguar by mistake and have had fair luck with it. It seemed to hold knots well, but for a few bucks more I will use it up and then stick with the Frog hair or Drennen.

I bought some 20# Amnesia and added it to my leader and I love it. I can see the line so much better

yea thats the stuff clint.. i was using 3x and switched to 4x if I thought it would produce better, thats what I was looking to buy in Altmar.. After I couldnt take the seaguar any longer I just stuck with the 3x for the rest of the day..
my problem with the seaguar was line twist.. the sutff just drove me crazy and forgot I already had some in the car when I bought that.. Hence , left in the car..
I will say I was not pleased with the frog hair mono tippet for steelhead.. I love it in the spring or warmer water on my trout ponds & streams but it did (does) not like cold.. Go figure..
