half spring, half winter
Thur. was a bit slow, and though we got a few fish, it seemed like it wasn't going to be a productive trip. The day ended with some POURING rain, it was kind of cool in a way to see the front move in. Fri. started with some snow on the ground and much chillier. Much better fish activity, though. For the trip I went 6 for 12 , a little below average for this winter for me. I haven't looked at the flow charts, but the river had an infusion of coldwater that slowed things down yesterday afternoon. As I said in Clint's post, it was great to meet and fish with him, and thanks again for lunch! Looking forward to fishing with him again. So many different colors worked, and types of flies, it's not even worth noting. Had more to do with presentation, and changing until they would eat. I saw some incredibly bad fish handling and some dying fish from absolutely crap handling . My theory that as many fish die from CandR ,as from going home to eat, I think holds true. With many fish in the river, it doesn't seem to matter. Time will tell. I'd rather see them go home on a stringer. Brenda's has been sold, and we met the new owner, Mike, that takes over in May . He assured us the prices are going to stay the same, as he knows it's a working stiffs place not a freakin' B&B or fancy lodge. I'll probably go back once more this year, but I know my head's starting to turn towards familiar waters and species I have a clue about . In a way, I'll be glad to give it a rest. HT got a great fish, I think it made his trip. Charlie

As usual, nice fish and report...especially coming from someone who doesn't have a clue Clint is one solid dude. Unfortunately my only opportunity to fish with him was in a beaten over crowded and fished pool in the mid day... looking forward to 1 or 2 more trips myself. Tight lines

Dear Clueless,it looks like you got to play with a few 8-10#ers,not bad for a beginner! I'll be playing with a few 8-12"er stockies locally,it's fishing but not the same :) Maybe we can get together come April after your western adventure,I'll be in Cleveland in the meantime.

Once again & again Thanks Clint.. Pleasure meeting and fishing with you.. Besides you are a GREAT net man.. lol.. while I don't know my score, I did land 7 fish in 2 days of fishing.. 1 was foul hooked and released without a picture.. The skipper chromer the picture didn't do justice so that's out too.. Any way.. While fishing down river my only fish came on the fly swap tie I call the wiggler.. It struck out on day 2 and ALL my fish came on a blue pattern fly.. ALL of them .. The others in the crew had various colors working for them.. In my pic's I try to focus on the fish so you'll notice that but givin so , also note my left arm is ALWAYS bent up against my body.. No holding them WAY out to make them appear larger then life..lol With out a doubt these were much larger fish then the last outtings, at least for me.. Roll the camera: Here is the big fish of the trip, an EASY 14# and thats being conservative.. you tell me.... Thanks again Mr. Charlie, always a pleasure..

For some reason your puns are going right over my bald head ... On the other hand, great fish with some good size. They look like 3 year fish to me. I missed them in the lower river this past february, but am glad to see they did come in abundance... great job and guys thanks for letting me live vicariously through your reports. Trips are out of the picture for me the next 2 weeks...maybe an april shindig as a season closer????
