final trip of 2012

Had a good week last week Tuesday through Friday ,,
Weather was a littel tough on weds and thursday but Friday was nice. Had a chance to try out my new reel and break it in nicely. With the bump in water on Friday it really turned the fish on , but unfortunately with the nice weather , it got a little crowded. but all in all great trip,, Best fly patters were black stone flies beadheads worked a litte better , but both beadhead and non beadheads worked. Not much action on colors at all ..
Thanks to all on the site for your help this year ,,,
Signing off until next winter ..
Take care
Cape

Thanks for the report. Looks like the weather is going to break this week with 50's and even a day in the 60's. I am going to go up on Friday to see what I can do.

PA I was throwing mainly 12 ,, on occasion I picked up a few on size 10 and 14's worked if the fly had a little flash to it.

this extreme warm spell predicted for later this week, after a couple of bone-chiller nights, should wake the feesches up - no matter where you live in the NE.

Get out and hit the streams and rivers boys & girls..

Drake, that's what I was thinking too. River temp has been slowly creeping up, it's at 36 now 33 2 weeks ago. I am going out Friday AM. Hopefully I can beat the weekend crowds a little. Keeping an eye on flows for area rivers and tribs and making a go based on that. Also starting to tie up some bigger stuff and streamers. I went up to All Seasons today for some hooks ONLY and came out with a bag of stuff. I cannot get out of that place without spending $$$$. Sad thing is that they were out of the size I needed in the 100 count so I have to go back up later this week to get them and probably buy ANOTHER bag of stuff.

PS They have been tapping the sugar maple trees on the farm for a month now, everything is running early.

i have not been out personally
    too much stuff going on
but from what those who have been out are saying
the fish may be a couple weeks ahead of normal schedule due to the warmer than normal temps
spawned out fish are common and drop backs are starting

either way i need to jump off this hamster wheel and get some water time

Thanks for the kind words, and Yes if Winter decides to come into play I may go back up. I was able to spend 40 Days on the SR this year which is great for me. I will be focused on Fresh water Bassin for the next few months and then on to Salt after that.

If you are ever heading to Cape Cod look me up .

    Take care
