I went to one of RG's favorite spots today. I went with a buddy and his brother in law. The BIL tends to sight fish and will crowd you out, if a fish is seen. To remedy that we parked, I doled out the new walkies I got for Christmas and I went upstream and they went downstream.
I got a small brown about 10 inches or so and to my surprise I SAW 2 SETS OF COHOS. I took a few casts at them and when they showed no interest I kept moving. Went downstream and met the guys and to my surprise they had a 30 plus inch steel on the bank. The BIL caught it and although I am not 100% sure I think he lined it. I asked my buddy and he just said he thought it bit, but was less than enthusiastic when saying it. The most horrible part is that he kept the fish. He is a good guy just not my sort of sportsman. The taking of the game is more important to him than the means of taking it.
All that said it was a good day, I saw a fair amount of steel ,the HO's, and caught the little brown, just nothing really biting though, tried every fly in the box.
RG, you know where I went, caught the brown and saw the Ho's and a few steel in the woods. The most steel were in in the deeper pools where you have not gone. Surprised to see them, but happy.
There was little pressure on the river today most lots other than Altmar had 1 or 2 cars. The wires had 6 or 7, river was fast a furious. Saw lots of boats out
