casting a centerpin is easy - you don't need to use a side cast(which causes line twist) or a full-fledged Wallis cast.
If your rod is 13feet long you already start off in the +, simply pull slightly on the line, and let the reel dump line at your feet (count 3,4 Mississippi) then cast the rod and wala - you just cast the float & offering 40-50 feet.
It's not rocket science.
IMO, Pinning has its advantages to access hard to get to water when common sense dictates that you don't bushwhack through thorns, down a steep cliff, or wade underwater. It does provide the perfect drift.
Rigging up the shot pattern takes an extra minute - no biggie.
Beginners that employ the bottom bounce get frustrated from repeated snags/break-offs, & reties. That does not happen with pinning.
Butt,
to be honest, it gets boring after awhile, and make you a bobber knobber.
I'd rather use the fly rod for the most part.
