Just a heads up. As the previous report said, "there were a couple guys out there." There was also a report that a guy went through in twenty fow on the Ice Shanty site. This is that time of the year we all dread and fear. Too bad its come so soon. Be safe to fish another day. Lou

I walked way out Saturday afternoon, until the spud went clean thru 3" of SOFT crystal clear ice. That's when we backed off. Never even bothered taking the Marcum out with us, so have no idea what depth we were at. I did take it out trying to mark fish under that band of mixed white chunks & black ice... 16ft. of water and never marked a fish. The white ice was much more firm than the clear ice. Kinda freaky, fo' sure. Never saw black ice so soft before. 4" of white ice w/ 1" black under was WAY stronger than 3" - 4" of black ice. I was wondering if that was from the sunshine all day. I'm not about to find out if it stiffens after sunset.

if you go out in the 20 ft. range try not to stay in one spot for to long.i was fishing next to the guys that went in on tues. afternoon and the thing they did wrong was staying on the same holes for the whole afternoon, after awile you could see the water pouring out of the hole you were standing next to.also i would wear a pfd and make sure you have your picks on you, i believe they had theirs in their sled.

Ice was real good 5-6" all along the 99 side but the fishing wasnt so good. Caught a limit of blue gills in about 1 1/2 hours last week but only 3 gills and 1 perch in 4 hours this morning. Hard to believe its the same lake.

Fished from 6' to 13'. Could get some sniffers in the 6'-8' range but couldnt even mark a fish in the depths tha I killed them last week.

Was going to fish it tonight...but was very sloppy with the rain, plus the ice was 3" of white ice....not so good.  It should tighten up after this weekend if the forecast holds up.

i was on edinboro on monday and it was 4in. or less. the farther out you went the thinner it was, after the rain today it probably lost a little.there was also 4 or 5 in. of snow on the ice which kept the ice from thickining when we had those 2 cold days last week.i would head to eaton the ice was more like 6 in. on tues.

Fished it tonight. Ice really went to crap. Had 6 plus inches on Monday where I was fishing. Tonight it was about 4" with 2 1/2" soft white on top. Be careful if you venture out tomorrow.
