WINTER IS HERE!!!!
Got 18 to 20 inches between yesterday and last night. I just got it cleaned up and waiting for more. We will see about this weekend for fishing.

Maybe 6 more inches today clint... im looking at about 10-12 inches in Pulaski here... gonna head up to camp in a bit and fire up the 450c and push some snow myself....

barely any snow down here, but the wind chills are brutal.. Not even a crow around this morning, outsmarted by a bird brain again....

OMG!!!!......we're going to get 4-6 inches of snow in SE Penna tonight and tomorrow,the supermarkets will be cleaned out of bread and milk by 9 PM tonight!

Up state NY and SE Penna. is like night and day when it comes to dealing with snow.I remember a few days in the past when I was in the Pooolaski area and a foot or so of snow would fall and the school buses would be running and everyone else would be going about on their usual business.When a foot of snow falls here all the schools close and everyone carrys on like it's a world ending event,night and day!By the way this is the first snow that will cover the ground since that Halloween blizzard,that is unusual.

I was shocked last friday when all of the schools in Pulaski and surrounding areas were called off... there was only a few inches at that point.... you are right about the past though jack; I have seen the buses running with deep snow falls

The schools around here are softening up on their snow days. They are MUCH quicker on the gun to cancel or call a 2 hour delay than when I was a kid and then they pay for it later by losing spring break or having to go to school extra days. I think some of it come from "outside blood" in the administration. Back in the day most of the teachers lived close by, grew up in the area and some worked up into the administrators jobs. Now most of the administrators are "hired guns" looking to "save the school" that is in financial trouble or having kids fall below the state levels. They do not know the weather and that folks around here look at 6 inches of snow as very minor and no big deal.
IMO they are also part of the reason the schools turned to crap. Instead of teachers teaching kids period there are administrators and specialists for every subject that don't even teach they just decide what to teach. Our school census has went down by 15% over the past 5 years, in that time we have ADDED new staff and teachers and my taxes have gone up 50%. Enough of a rant here. Glad this is my thread so I wont feel bad for hijacking it.

Clint,you're not alone with the school issue,it appears to be happening many places that I know of.
Well it's mid morning and we might have 4 inches but looking at the weather radar it appears to be ending soon.This is what I refer to as a nuisance snow,just enough to make me clear off my 300 foot+ driveway with the blower,or I could wait for the 50 degree temps with rain on monday.

Same here Pa but I heard a second wave will be coming through. Better to clean the snow off. Nothing like it when the rain comes and the temps go the wrong way and you end up with two inches of solid ice.Been there- done that. Two issues with schools. Bus companies afraid of law suits and administrations don't want to spend money on subs because tachers can't make it in. ( They still get paid). None of it has anything to do with the students.
