Finding the correct arrow

Maybe someone can help me out here with an arrow selection.. I bought a PSE Vendetta and am looking for a dozen new arrows.. I'm not exactly sure how to select spine and weight and all of that good stuff.. I will be shooting 65# with a 31.5" draw. Now i looked on the GoldTip chart and it says i want to be shooting a Goldtip 7595? I will not be shooting past 35-40 yards. I like the Carbon Express Maxima hunter and the Goldtip Prohunter arrows but pretty confused if anyone could maybe lend a helping hand. Thanks, Ed

are you nearly 7 feet tall!? 31.5" is probably too long of a draw length especially with a release and string loop.
I have used gold tip hunter xt arrows for a while and have no complaints, very strong and consistant.
When in doubt or on the line between two spines, go with the stiffer one.
Grains per inch is the other thing to consider, more will give you more kinetic energy (penetration) and less will give you less drop at longer ranges.
I have always favored a medium weight shaft, and if 40yds is your max you might want to lean a little on the heavy side (like 9-10 gpi)

The best advice I can give anyone uncertain about which arrows they need would be to take your bow and head to a good Archery Pro Shop. They can fix you up with the arrows that will match both you and your bow for whatever type of shooting you plan to do.

The correct spine for the Carbon Express Maxima Hunter for your set up is 350. That is a 8.9 GPI (grains per inch) shaft. Your correct on the Gold Tips, a 7595 is correct.

Eman, I have had the priviledge of shooting almost every arrow available. I can tell you two certain facts... #1) I would never trust a Gold Tip on my Bow (my reasons are well documented through the industry). #2) Carbon Express "might" be IMO (and many, many top shooters) the best arrow to have ever been designed. To each his own, but that would be my $.02

I have to agree with Griff here.  I have shot Gold Tips in the past and based on my experiences they are junk.

I have been shooting Carbon Express Piledrivers as of late and absolutely love them.  I shoot the 350 shaft which weighs in at a heavy 11.3 gpi.  My bow is set at ~70# with 29.5" draw.

I actually bought the piledrivers at D!cks for about $40/half dozen.  As long as you don't loose them these arrows are virtually indestructible.  The Goldtips will wind up costing you more in the long run because they don't last worth a shat.  They are brittle and the finish wears off very quickly in my experience.

Eman, I better clarify as I incorrectly assumed I have shot the Gold Tip Pro Hunters, which I have not.  The actual arrows I used to shoot are the Gold Tip Expedition Hunters, which are junk.

Sorry for the confusion and the Pro Hunters may actually be good arrows, but I can't say from experience.

Buy what you can aford. Buy an arrow of at least +-.002 total straightness if you can. I use Easton St Epic and fletch my own raw shafts. I like a 2% offset with a 2" Blazer vane. I also cut them to the length I need. I did mine in black and white zebra and the GF's in Hot pink. No complaints. Saying which arrow is best is like compaing Chevy and Fords. If you can't find any deals check eBay they have lots. Most guys will cut before shipping if you know the lenght you want.

Be extremely careful cutting carbon arrows and wear breathing protection...

I'm still using (or would be if I had the time) Carbon Impact Fat shafts. I've taken 3 deer and 2 groundhogs with the same arrow...

What issues have you guys had with gold tips?

I've been shooting maximas for years. The shoot very well, but don't seem as tough as the gold tips I shot in tbhe years before.

Durability was my main issue with them.  I noticed several of them began to splinter after a typical summer of target shooting (no hard objects were hit either).  The coatings on them were junk as well and didn't withstand many shots before wearing off completely. The Piledrivers I shoot now appear to penetrate much better than the GT based on my observations, while this is likely due to the weight difference it is still a major benefit of the Piledrivers.

Bear in mind that I was shooting the bottom of the barrel Gold Tips (Expedition Hunters) and I realize that their premium arrows may perform much better.

I have only ever used the Hunter XT gold tips, which is the second best arrow in their lineup but I have had the same dozen for years, never broke one only lost em. Shot through plywood and osb a few times, once hit concrete after skipping off the top of my block and thought for sure it would be blown up but no cracks around insert or anything. (im guessing a direct hit woulda killed it)
I dont have the camo shafts, just plain black carbon so I cant say how durable the finish is and I never robin hooded any.

I wouldnt say they are better than maximas, but imo and experience they arent junk... cant speak for gt expedition hunters though
For the money vs the maximas i would personally reccomend them but technically the maximas are probably better in some respects

I have actually considered trying the piledrivers for the extra gpi, but I think my gt 7595's are 8.9 so not too lite
