Got a Fly Rod for Christmas

My son got me a 9'6" fly rod and reel for Christmas 6wt. It's a LL Bean rod and reel.

All I have to do is get some flies and head to the water.
Gonna need some help on fly selection for this.

I tried his rod this past fall on Elk creek near Uncle John's Cabins. (I need practice).
I did hook one with the fly rod near a bridge that crosses the creek where there is a pretty large parking lot.
Caught in on a black wooly bugger. (was pulling it in like a jig.

I used a noodle rod on Elk this fall on our only trip up there the begining of November.
I hooked 6 fish landed 4. (2 were foul hooked and 2 were in the mouth. The largest one was 8 3/4 lbs.
the rest were in the 6-7 lb range. Only kept 1. It tasted pretty good.

I'm retired now but the health is a problem (legs are the problem) on going it alone. My son doesn't have the
vacation time plus he works 6 days a week for more than half the year. I/we will try to get up there
again this fall.

Would I be allowed to attend the One Fly Event this fall and bring my son?
If so when do you think it will be?

From a future fly fisherman.

Jim

I'm sure you could go, I doubt Bughawk will be working the door .

Fly rods are amazing man, good luck, learn to swing flies, it's some of the funnest fishing I've ever done.

    That's heresy!
