12/31/11

Well,  I went out today from about from about 9:30 to 1:30.  Weather was warm for this time of year and on and off drizzle.   I decided to try some new spots out so I fished between the Altmar and Ellis. There were alot of folks in the fly zones and in town, but after that lots of room and not a ton of people.   Only saw 2 boats go by.  I did not get any takers today.   I tried some Estaz stone flies, Estaz eggs and even some beads, multiple colors on each.   There was a guy who actually asked if he could  fish a little bit down from me and I said sure.   We talked for a bit when I was getting ready to go and he said he had 1 bite 1 small fish, which i saw him catch.   I spoke to alot of guys on the way out as well as one of the guide boats  and all reported similar results, a few hits here and there with and a few landed.   As I have heard a few times it's more about presentation  and I guess on these tougher days this is even more important.   Guess I will need to practice a bit more. ;)0

Clint; everything you mentioned is what fishing is all about. As rt said, A for effort...

Presentation: yes this is important... many different ways to present with the many different rods and reels out there. The best piece of advice I can give is never settle with one method or tactic. Also, never think that what worked yesterday will work today...
