Pennsytuky Ditches

Tues was the first day during my visit to daughters in Hudson Ohio that I got to fish. Was thinking of trying a Ohio trib but looking at flow gauges and scant reports decided to make the long drive to Pennsy and 20 Mile.Got there around 9 AM to see lots of cars at access areas, decided to go in as there was nothing else close by.Water was low and clear and not many fish to be seen but lots of people roaming around wondering where the fish are.I found a couple spots and hooked into a couple using #16 BH pheasant tail on 4 lb flora tippet.
Around noon I decided to head west and give Elk a try.Again lots of cars at access areas on my way to a little known spot.No cars there and no people, also no fish to be seen, maybe that's why there was no people.Anyway I thrashed around there for a hour or so with no luck at all.
Around 2:30 in the afternoon the rain started turning to wet snow, about 3 hours earlier than predicted.Since I had 100 miles of driving ahead in a major lake affect snowbelt I decided to head for home.On the way I hit some heavy wet snow but the temps were still keeping the road passable so I made it back in one piece.
Going to give it another try tomorrow closer to the lake, hoping to hit some fresh fish.

Well my last trip for 2011 was good and not good. The not good was that I did n't play with a single fish, the good part was that I met a couple local guys up there and shared some drifts, told each other some jokes and war stories, and had a great time enjoying the outdoors.
The one guy's family owns the land surrounding the section of stream we were on and said that they could easily post it and make it difficult for the out of area guys to fish it but they won't unless they have a reason to.Now that is what good people are like.
My big mistake yesterday was staying with the fly tackle and not packing my noodle rod.The few fish that are there are holed up in the deep, slow water. The few fish I saw caught were on sacks under a float.
After leaving my two new friends I ran into another local guy. After some chatter we decided to go to another area that I never fished before but wanted to try.We spent a couple hours fishing this area and there was some nice water there that I definitely want to fish again. However,I could n't get a bump but Kevin caught two with sacks.I packed up and headed home around 4 and won't be out again until March at the earliest, the dead of winter is not my idea of fun.
