Upper St. Clair pond off Boyce Road
I checked it out this week with my boy. Anyone ever fish this or know if it can be fished? Looks big enough, but I didn't see any signs that it is fished much. Just looking for a little bluegill hole to take him in the spring.

Not sure where you are talking about, I looked at google earth and did not see any pond off of boyce road? Anyway a good spot to take your boy would be Peter lake park. Two entrances one off of waterdam and the other up behind PTHS. Check out google earth. Lots of pan fish and a bunch of spots to walk around the entire lake and fish safely with small children. Also there is a pond behind the Shop and Save at the top of boyce road that is private property. You can catch lots of pan fish there as well just be aware it is private. Most people will not question you if you are there with your boy. Good luck!

That's pretty cool. Google your coordinates and #1 listing is Fishusa, #2 is CIA.gov... It is in Boyce Park, so imagine if there aren't any signs, it is legal. It is fed by Chartiers Creek, so definitely has fish in it. Not sure what kind, or if it would be a pond to keep fish from. My Brother lives about a mile from there (only about 1 1/2 years). I'll see if he knows anything about it. http://www.twpusc.org/rec/parks/boycemay/index.htm

It has been a while since I've been in that area. But I know some ponds in that park system are acid mine drainage treatment ponds for Chartiers Creek. I think it's off of Mayview Road, but not positive, there is a gated road that goes down to the fields and creek below. At the gate there is a big sign board and a box of pamphlets that explains the treatment process.

Here's a pretty cool link, although I think this about a mile down stream, at the Lynch Ponds. I wouldn't doubt that these ponds do similar, as they are pretty close. That's kind of a bummer. I was eyeballing these when he moved to the area for the same, kid friendly worm drowning puddle. Although, if it makes the creek cleaner, that serves a lot more anglers intrests. He did say that there were some spots on the creek that seemed to be pretty kid friendly, when the water isn't raging of course... It would be nice to have a "North Park" type of lake, south of town. http://www.alleghenylandtrust.org/properties/wingfield/highlights/index.html

Someone else told me Lynch used to be good in the day, but that is was all grown over now in poison ivy and wasn't worth looking at - maybe he's a frequent visitor! Thanks for the all the advice.

There are monster bass in the pond. I have thrown everything their way and only caught one, off of a bluegill. The trail goes around the entire pond. I have taken my five year old there quite a few times without any issues.
