12/23 report

Wow big water no fishing pressure, about 6 guys in the lower fly zone at 730 when we launched. Passed all 5 other boats that were on the river before the schoolhouse then had the whole river to ourselves never saw another boat or shore angler. Loving to plug, and having two buddys with me(each an easy 260lbs) 5 rods out we went 6 for 8 two of the fish in th 13 to 14 pound range. The other 4 were the cookie cutter 6 to 8 range. Water temp was around 37 to 38 and the fish were slamming the plugs. I have been plugging the river for a tick over 11 years and this has been the best season to date. I very rarely see anyone else pulling plugs and thats fine by me. Merry Christmas to you all and freak'n tight lines. Tomorrow is my 18th wedding anniversary so no fishing and havent been able to fish christmas day since the chit'lin was born so its gonna be monday for I gets to go again, state job and thats when we observe the holiday. Dime, still holding new years day for ya let me know. Peace

Looking like perfect steelhead weather next weekend, rainy, cold. Ill practice up on my fly fishing when I go up on monday, been a while. If your wife is anything like mine she wont mind a bit, when I get home I show her the pics and she asks if I had fun, glad im safe and happy to get her tahoe back cause she hates my ugly truck. See ya next week if you get a chance shoot your email to me Ill pass along some pics. Peace

John; its looking like the water may stay big... rain is transitioning to snow as we speak; but tonight and the next few days are gonna be sub freezing with tomorrow night down in the singles... id assume that even with a deep freeze we will not see a drop in flow...I guess it all depends on when/where the snow/rain line established... so far so good... Sunday is forecasting cloudy and mid-upper 30's...

Yea Dime was watching, they were gonna drop it to 385 then decide to leave it at 900. Im still hoping for rain instead of snow even though i dropped a small fortune on a 2012 articcat snowmobile, If the water stays big hope I can persuade you to pull some plugs

3fan... 1250 now and back down to 900 at 10 am... looks like we're gonna have some bigger water... I have no problem pulling plugs; I may very well bring some rapalas to pull along the undercuts...can't wait... gonna try to wet a line down low on friday or Saturday...

Gonna step the water down to 500... im hoping it stabilizes at that... seems as if the water may even warm a bit with the next few days high temps... I feel bad for the guys rolling in to town Monday... looking like some sub zero temps for early/mid next week.

I must be getting old, no I KNOW I'm getting old. I'm glad I'm leaving today and fishing some warmer temps and lower flows. Dime and 3 Fan, have a great ride and boat some slammers.
