Thought you put up a report and said the run was over.

Guess I made a mistake when I came up a few weeks ago.  Let me see not many peolpe (came during the week) great water conditions, nice weather, lots of fish. Hummm!  What should I be looking for before I come back up?

the browns have mostly spawned/stripped and are in the post spawn feed frnzy
worthless at this point with no fresh sackage material in there bellies but still a stupid fish to catch

I agree. If you can't slit a brown trout for it's eggs, what good is it?

my buddy lives 8 miles upstream of mckean and landing double digits in his backyard hole... on average years hes lucky to have 3 fish there...

BTW, elk is heavily posted upstream of mckean, you dont want to get caught trespassing...

of course, unless you have permission.

I don't know anything about the east side, but on the west side,  typically the run IS over by now .
That doesn't mean you won't get into a pod of fresh fish somewhere on Elk in Dec, but by and large, the bulk of steel come in during Sept and Oct

'least from my observations over the years .....

I'd have to agree glen the numbers are dropping fast. I've had my fun with steel now bring on the ice.

I am working in Erie a lot next week. I don't care if they are fresh or not, I hope to find em somewhere.

I think you mean Oct and Nov, there are certainly way more fish running in Nov than there is in Sept.

Some years we've had good runs in December if it's been a dry fall or if the creeks freeze over in December for a couple of weeks. Then a little thaw can fire up some fresh fish as well.
