Wow..lots of deer out last night.

Counted over 25 doe/fawns and 2 nice bucks, one a bruiser, the other pretty nice, last night on my way home from work. All that rain didn't seem to bother them one bit.

On a normal day I might see 5-10 deer driving that route.

I'm still not seeing the large herds like I used to when I've been out spotting them, but I am seeing more and more deer each year. I'm guessing because more land is being posted. My eyes are looking everywhere when I'm driving, they jump out of nowhere at the last second.

That area is insane with the amount of deer numbers. A few friends I know there refer it as to the "petting zoo" while hunting. It's getting so bad the people are not permitted to feed deer anymore. The overpopulation had made the local TV news yesterday around that area.

My wife said she saw a "bunch" of deer last evening n her way home from work in the middle of an exchange clover leaf.  I had ot go that way today and found out why they were all gahered there.  Some deep thinkers at PennDot planted "flowering" trees in the loops of the clover leaf as part of a beautification project about ten years ago.   It turns out that they were apple trees.  So now there are 8-10 apple trees in each loop that the deer must cross the road to get to and from.   What a great idea!

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I have relation in Cranberry twp who used to spend a lot of time with me during deer and turkey season. He now has more and bigger deer and more turkeys than we had up North even before HR/AR. He misses hunting without having to listen to the local kids playing in their yards but sure likes his success rate on bucks and gobblers.

Yes sometimes you can hear kids playing in certain places,But Hunting some of these deer is quite the challenge per as they are very smart to say the least. trust me I know. The big bucks most of time will get between you and the house's. As for the turkey's there are WAY TO MANY here. I see a herd of over FIFTY birds everyday, just drive down Rochester road look across from the municipal building

More like every year for myself. As long as I can remember it has always been the second week of the season. Although there has been a few times it started after the first couple days.
