first attempt at real taxidermy...
So my son and I each shot bucks this year from the same hill. His was his first and my guess, due to similarities is that these two are related closely. Anyways, I wanted to build something special for him and this is what I built. I skinned the skulls and put my woodshop tools to good use.

I'd say you done good. Looks awesome but I don't think I could convince the wife to put it on the kitchen table though. Great tribute to your time together.

Nice job. Did you boil or use beetles ? Are they bleached ? Did you spray the foliage to preserve with lacquer ? I like it well and know the work that must of went into it.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. As for the process, I boiled the skulls in a water/Dawn/Arm and Hammer mix and scraped/probed until clean. For whitening, I used a mixture of 40% peroxide and Magnesium Carbonate. The greenery is a combination of silk and lacquer preserves, including some of Lake Erie's driftwood from the mouth of 12 mile creek. Obviously the woodwork can be done with glue (bisuit joiner...), good saws, some clamps, and a lot of sandpaper (a router table makes life easier for the detailing )

NICE! I think a lamp mixed into the works might be nice on the next one you do. You are talented at what you do. You seem to be a natural at this and I wish you the best in future projects.
