Starting Pinning

Want to start pinning ever since I started really drifting sacks and single eggs. Would like to achieve a longer drift and to honest I just think the things look cool and are a good investment. Any suggestions on what to start out with length of rod and reel models?

I started with an 11'6" wild river from st croix it's a great rod. As for a reel you should probably look at a Sheffield a lot of guys use them. Once you know your going to stick with centerpin fishing then you can upgrade to a painefalls

Yeah I've been looking at the Raven Matrix special edition anyone suggest it? I saw one on the creek a week ago a guy bought for 150 that way I can invest in a good rod that achieves good balance
