Thanksgiving

Will be up over Thanksgiving. Anyone know if any local restaurants will be open? (other than fast food!)

I have no idea, but am interested in the responses as I will probably be up over Thanksgiving myself.

I'd like to thank everyone who recommended Syd's on the west side for an Erie perch dinner.  Stopped there last Friday night and had the clam chowder and Erie perch with red skin potatoes.  It was excellent, will definitely go back again sometime.  It really hit the spot and topped of a great day of fishing on the Elk!

sorry for the diversion, OP...but I'd reckon many restaurants will be open...least the normal "franchise" type like Applebees, Perkns, etc ...cause lot of folks go out to eat on T-giving rather than cook at home

Wow. So it is the Colony again. I worked there as a bus boy and then dishwasher back in the early 80's when it was the Colony Inn. Then it was bought and the name was changed to The Hearth.  And there is a Perkins right next to it, but not sure if they will be open on T'giving. Some Chinese places stay open.

I used to go to the Buckhorn (TA Travel Center Harborcreek exit I-90) fairly often, when I lived nearby. The food is reasonable and I believe they are open 24/365.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

is there a cracker barrel up there? they usually are open on thanksgiving.

Upper Peach Street. North on Peach off of I-90, it will be on the left.

Cracker Barrel would be my last resort. There's many better choices than that place. I'll check the newspaper Sunday, and will post a few.

Newspaper today had two good choices, both reasonably priced. Colony Pub - previously mentioned. Buffet or sit-down dinner from 11 to 7. Nobody mentioned Crowley's though. Serving from 12 to 5, $11.99 Convenient to Elk on Rt. 18, 2 miles south of I-90.

If you want to go upscale, the Bel-Aire buffet is $25. It is just down the street from the Colony Pub, toward Peninsula Dr. Serving 12-6. I'm sure the food would be great.

My choice would be Crowley's if I wasn't going to my brother's, I may go there for Christmas, if they're open.

Avonia was closed on Thanksgiving last year, brother and I went there year before and it was pretty good, disapointed they were closed last year.
