another egg sac ????

My salt egg cure seemed to work out pretty good, they bounce like a rubber ball.  Fly rod is still out in the mail so I got some purple and natural sacs tied up for Saturday.
When putting a sac on the hook do you guys usually puncture an egg for the scent or try to keep them all intact.

First time trying to cure, so the learning curve is large.   I just put them in a soda bottle with river water and left them in the river while I fished, about 3 hours.   Then let them soak in a salt brine for an 1.5 hours or so.  Then dried.  Would less time in the salt or river have made them softer.   I will try them and see how they work.
