More prizes to come

LOTAC would like to invite everyone to our Second Annual Catch & Clean Tournament on November 5th at Fox Hollow Lodge. The format will be the same as last year with a 50/50 payout for the 3 winning levels that coincides with the river cleanup. Registration will be at Fox Hollow the night before on 11/4 from 6 - 8 PM or the morning of the tournament 11/5 starting at 4 AM. Participants can pre-register through paypal or by mail.

Along with the tournament we will have raffles and food provided by Roger at Fox Hollow. This year we will over $2000 in raffle prizes including a couple of rod & reel combo's, gear, apparel, guided trips, and lodge stays. One change from last year is that we will not be selling raffle tickets through paypal like last year; it is a violation of paypal rules.

To pre-register participants must send a check to LOTAC, 117 Cresline Drive, Syracuse, NY 13206 or pay through paypal with the donate now button. The cost is $25 for non LOTAC members and $15 for LOTAC members. If you would like dinner please add an additional $6. If you sign up this way you will still have to stop by on the 4th or 5th to pick up your tournament materials and sign the liability waiver.

More information to come on the cost of raffle tickets and other tournament logistics.

If anyone has any questions you can pm me or email us at info@lotac.org.

All funds generated help us to continue our conservation and education projects.

Thanks for the support

    interesting

I suggest pinging DB - maybe he can make a few calls to his close friends that own shops up there to fill up empty spaces under the Raffle Tree.

ya know - maybe he can guilt them into dat local pride thang he crows about.

Nancy and I haul garbage, too. I must admit, I came to chase steel last Nov. shortly after one of these cleanups and was very surprised. I had an opinion of the SR that was lower than low. That changed. That's why I belong to this forum, too. No trash throwers, no rippers(not f'in joking here) just good fisherman that give half a sheet for a good river with alot of great fish in it. I doubt I'll do the tourney or even do organized trash pick-up.I'm kind of not a people person.  I do support people who do, though. Thanks for the efforts. My dollars are thrown in to the  local kitty because I saw what the river could be, not it FUBAR , as I had in the past.

I've only done 1 cleanup and it was pre LOTAC--I will say it's a good cause---but even way back then I was not thrilled w/ the turnout of fisherpeople---1/2 the cleaners were student provided by Shaggy--and they were troopers in nasty conditions---fair to say that the people here aren't the problem w/ the garbage......but we ALL can make a diff---my prob w/ doing more on the cleanups is that life gets in the way---but I do more than my share while I'm fishing----wish more were scheduled on Sun---giving me 1/2 a chance to support.

Metal, if it is tough for you, it's even tougher to expect out of towners to drive couple hundred miles to make a special one day effort.

Regarding local support - I always wondered why the local shops, guides, etc. never had a "Give Back Day" themselves and run a few cleanup crews down the river. I'm not talkin bout a couple guides offering their boats as trash barges - I'm talkin a concerted effort by the many commercial ventures from Altmar to Pulaski.Maybe they have and I never heard of it??

Nevertheless, one would think that a little annual maintenance on the cash register by the cash collectors would be a decent act representing "local support".

I hear ya Drake--not making excuses--but I got 3 kids 12,10,8--that r very active(sports,band,ect)--even though I live close(17mi) most out of towners actually get more fishing time than me.Can't wait till my oldest becomes mobile (I think?) and can help out w/ the logistics--lol

    Hey Metal,
I remember that clean-up... I brought my son... he had a blast, now he is in college,, I hardly see him anymore
Here is a picture Fred took that day... My son brought a friend that clean-up and we fished the afternoon, his bud asked why we fish for steelhead "they fight too hard" LOL

The guides have had several clean-ups over the years. I remember, back in the day, taking the barrel from the barrel hole. Turned out to be a hot water heater, The guides took over a ton of trash and mono monsters out that day.

You don't have to be there to win the raffle. Just follow the instructions on the site. www.lotac.org

We will send you an email with your ticket numbers. It worked well last year. Better prizes this year. We get more support from out of town shops and manufactures. Something we are working on. I think its a wait and see attitude. If we stick around long enough eventually people will buy in. Certainly needs all the local support it can get.  Its all good though, just trying to spread the word.

I hate Salmon anglers who think my front yard is used for there trash!!!!
    What the F----ck!
    -
What if I drove to your front yard and dumped all of my trash there?
    Get a f--n;ning clue - idiots!!!
    -
I spend all Fall and early Winter floating by in my driftboat and picking up ALL your F--n, trash!
Get a clue, get a grip, stop being F-ning idiaots!!
    -
I dont dump trash in your front yards, SO, Please dont do it in mine!!!
    -
    I dont mind any fishing.
    BUT?, these Steelhead our trouphy's.
    Fox-Hollow.
    -
Why say keep and kill !
Why not a catch and relese?
Maybe you should re-think your game?
    Fox-hollow?
Am I wrong in reading that this was a catch and clean? - Meaning killing?
    -
Most anglers are releseing there Steel to live and fight another day?
    Daaaa!!!
